Way to Win is seeking a dynamic Director of Development and Fundraising to secure ambitious financial resources from institutional funders and non-member individuals to achieve organizational revenue goals. The Director of Development works closely with the Way to Rise team and Program staff to secure this support for the organization’s priorities. They lead in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewarding of current and prospective foundation and corporate donors who can and will make significant gifts to Way to Rise And Way to Win Action Fund.
Build and execute fundraising plans for Way to Win and Way to Win Action Fund
Directs the institutional fund-raising efforts organization-wide. Manages and oversees the institutional Leadership Giving team and works with Senior Leadership within the organization to set ambitious goals and generate new relationships important to the work of Way to Rise and Way to Win Action Fund.
Works with Senior Leadership and Program staff to identify funding opportunities and develop cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for foundation prospects to strengthen relationships and increase funding opportunities.
Works on selecting high-priority proposals and reports and is responsible for overseeing all proposals and report submissions, ensuring deadlines are met, overseeing the cultivation process of each funder, maintaining approval of final copy, and ensuring all proposals and reports prepared by the team are a collaborative effort across program, finance, and development staff.
Supervises and develops Institutional Giving Officer in writing, production and submission of grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and reports. Establishing a team that works both independently and collaboratively to succeed.
- Establish, oversee, and monitor quarterly fundraising goals to meet the budget and acquire new donors.
Direct fundraising prospecting plan for Way to Rise and Way to Win Action Fund
Proactively identify new and high-level multi-year, annual and campaign institutional and individual leads and prospects through electronic alerts, analysis, screening information, data mining techniques, push technology, demographic searches, etc.
Work closely with Way to Rise, Way to Rise Action Fund and the senior leadership to plan, prepare, and execute donor asks opportunities.
Prepare prospect reports for use by senior staff and team members and serves as prospect tracking and record keeping processes lead.
Maintain and analyze prospective and upgraded donor data and develop current and prospective donor lists and data.
Produce current and prospective donor profiles and helps determine appropriate solicitation ranges.
Lead list management of the Senior leadership/Executive teams portfolios regarding movement of qualified/disqualified leads, treatment in database, communication streams, etc.
Provide research support for major gifts work with the Executive Team.
Lead and conduct intensive sessions per year with help from other Development Team members to gather information on a predetermined geographic group.
Direct staff on prospecting
Building Way to Rise and Way to Win Action Fund individual and institutional profiles.
Recruiting new donors for programs and grantmaking.
Providing feedback to the Executive Director for maintaining ongoing organizational goals.
The ideal candidate has:
Proven Track Record with Fundraising Management
- Demonstrated success in managing and directing institutional fundraising efforts, with experience in the democracy ecosystem.
- Leadership Experience: Experience overseeing and developing a team, particularly in a fundraising context.
- Ability to build and execute comprehensive fundraising plans, set ambitious goals, and develop strategies for donor cultivation and stewardship.
- Experience in establishing, overseeing, and monitoring fundraising goals and performance metrics.
Donor Prospecting and Relationship Building:
Proficient in identifying and cultivating high-level institutional and individual donors, using various research and data analysis techniques.
Leadership and Team Management:
Skills in supervising, mentoring, and developing team members to achieve fundraising goals and enhance their professional growth.
Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership, program staff, and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
Proven track record as a fundraiser and grants manager in identifying prospective funders and securing grants of six figures or more.
15+ years of fundraising experience.
Relationships with program officers of major foundations.
Has experience fundraising on a national and state scale.
Experience in multi-organizational structure, 501c3 and 501c4.
Agility working in an entrepreneurial, hands-on environment that values results and outcomes and which also requires flexibility, creativity, and focus.
Familiarity with the democracy ecosystem.
Experience working with national, New York and California funders.
Nice to have familiarity with Intermediaries/Donor Advising.
Salary and Generous Benefits Package
Salary Range: $150,000 – $160,000
