Easterseals DC MD VA offers a unique opportunity for a motivated leader to join an exciting new community-based behavioral health program based in Prince George’s County Maryland. The Lead Clinician serves as the face of the program in the community and supports families and staff in our Head Start and Early Head Start programs established in Prince George’s County Maryland. The Lead Clinician will provide evidence-based treatment to children and families as well as behavioral health consultation and training to the Head Start and Early Head Start staff. The Lead Clinician is also tasked with building community relationships and performing needs assessments of community behavioral health needs in areas surrounding the Easterseals DC MD VA Head Start locations. As the program grows, the Lead Clinician will be responsible for supervision of future clinicians. The Lead Clinician is a full-time employee of Easterseals DC MD VA and reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Programs and Risk Management. The successful candidate will be motivated to deliver services to the highest standards of efficacy and quality, have excellent communication and customer service skills, and will be results-oriented.
Position Summary
The Lead Clinician will be a key member of the community-based behavioral health leadership team. He/she will have a broad role encompassing development and oversight of the program, direct therapeutic client care, as well as consultation and coaching to the Head Start team. The Lead Clinician will have training and experience in counseling young children (0-5 years old), providing family therapy, supervising other counselors, and taking part in school-based consultations; must be skilled at delivering trauma-informed, evidence-based services. The Lead Clinician will provide services throughout the area in homes, Head Start and Early Head Start centers, and other community locations. Services may also be provided virtually.
We seek a clinician who will excel at roles and responsibilities including but not limited to:
Administration, Management, and Operations
- Provide overall supervision for the clinical staff, as the program expands, and ensure that they have the professional development and training necessary to maintain a high-functioning clinical program.
- Work with leadership to establish a development plan for the program; including quality assurance and regulatory compliance to client files; on-going program evaluation and recommendations to the SVP for continuous growth and quality; and preparing and submitting monthly program reports and ad-hoc reports as requested by the SVP.
- Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of clinical processes, protocols, and procedures; establish, maintain, and continuously improve processes for outcomes measurement and reporting.
- Develop a training program to enhance skillset of Head Start and Early Head Start staff and other team members to promote an environment of trauma-informed care.
- Ensure that the clinicians provide treatment in compliance with state and federal guidelines as well as program policies, protocols, and procedures (as program grows).
- As the program capacity grows, develop the intern/extern program, and manage its’ operation.
Clinical Care
- Provide direct mental health services and referrals for children and their families in existing Easterseals DC MD VA programs and the community area we serve, utilizing evidenced-based therapies.
- Perform and document client screenings, psychosocial assessments, and progress and referral information.
- Conduct clinical intake assessments.
- Provide individual, couples, and family therapy to children and their families, with a focus on delivering evidence-based treatments.
- Collaborate and coordinate with the family, Head Start team, community providers, and all other disciplines to provide the best care to clients as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s Degree required, and independent license in Maryland to practice as LCPC, LCMFT or LCSW-C with established supervisor status for licensure.
- Preferred license-eligible in DC and the Commonwealth of Virginia, for future program growth.
- A minimum of 8 years’ overall experience, a minimum of 5 years in a clinical setting, plus a minimum of 2 years of clinical supervisory experience required.
- Experience working with or managing the care of children and families.
- Knowledge in DSM-V diagnoses.
- Experience in child and family evidence-based programs.
- Experience providing services in a variety of settings strongly preferred.
- Strong connections and experience in Prince George’s County strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of the appropriate and effective use of protected health information, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a strong plus.

- Must pass physical examination, background check, fingerprinting screen, and maintain required physical/TB screen requirements.
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout the area effectively and efficiently as necessary.
