JOB PURPOSE:
Coordination and monitoring of nursing standards and practice throughout the hospital. Collaborates with, through a matrix relationship, nurse managers in non-nursing division center of excellence practice areas and all areas of the hospital where nursing and patient care is practiced. Indirectly supervises all nursing personnel in Division of Nursing. The VP for the Division of Nursing is a registered professional nurse who has the authority and responsibility for the administration of the Division of Nursing, defining and maintaining standards of nursing practice and patient care management within the Hospital. Responsible for the formulation and implementation of operational policies and procedures necessary to meet these objectives. Currently, the Division of Nursing includes: nursing practice of Cardiovascular units, all aspects of Critical Care, Extended Care, Inpatient and Occupational Rehabilitation, Intermediate Care, Medical/Surgical, Neuroscience, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Oncology, Renal Transplant, Enterostomal Therapy and Community Clinical Case Management. The Chief Nursing Officer is responsible for the practice of all nurses at the hospital. In this role, the Chief Nursing Officer will focus on leading, collaborating, integrating, facilitating and evaluating in order to develop and support the systems necessary for professional nursing practice. The Chief Nursing Officer will collaborate with other executives in the hospital to make decisions that impact service outcomes across all settings. This professional will collaborate with other professionals to maintain patient care standards that align with Piedmont Healthcares mission, vision and values. The Chief Nursing Officer will be specifically responsible for directing and monitoring patient care standards carried out by hospital nurses.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Demonstrates professional nursing practices as role model for all settings of the hospital.
- Evaluates and revises systems/processes of the hospital which ensure achievement of patient-centered outcomes.
- Demonstrates accountability for fiscal management.
- Represents Nursing and Patient Care in the hospitals strategic planning.
- Provides work force management for Nursing.
- Serves as official liaison for medical staff relations.
- Maintains community/corporate interactions.
- Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of healthcare trends and data.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with masters degree in nursing or related field is required. Participation in professional organizations and involvement in civic/community agencies.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Ten or more years of experience in progressively responsible operational, executive, and or nursing management positions within a hospital or health system.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Georgia.
