The primary purpose of this position is to lead and manage Barry University's center for innovative emerging technologies, ensuring its integration across all academic disciplines. This includes overseeing operations, developing processes, collaborating with various stakeholders to drive initiatives in applied technology and AI, establishing metrics to measure impact, fostering partnerships, and creating revenue-generating activities to sustain the center. Key responsibilities include curriculum development, supporting faculty, and creating opportunities for students in internships and specialized credentials.
Design, build, and manage Barry University's center of excellence for the practical application of innovative emerging technologies across all disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for various center activities, including developing operational processes and procedures, staffing, budgeting, and service delivery.
- Manage operations of all related spaces and facilities, such as labs, specialized classrooms, simulation rooms, conference rooms, etc.
- Establish & track metrics to demonstrate desired impacts in areas such as student enrollment, student services (mentorship, tutoring, etc.), industry partners, and investment.
- Collaborate with many stakeholders to drive center initiatives forward, including Academic affairs leadership; Academic program chairs/directors; Faculty/Staff; Division of Enrollment, Engagement, and Outreach; Advancement and Career Center; Advisory Board members, local industry, and community partners; and Students.
- Ensure success of key center initiatives including:
- Infusing applied technology & AI throughout the curriculum across all schools/colleges/programs. This involves skills mapping across disciplines.
- Developing opportunities in applied technology & AI and other emerging technologies, especially as it relates to incorporating applied technology & AI in the curriculum and developing related assessment measures to gauge effectiveness.
- Developing a framework for the integration of technology topics into the curriculum and support faculty adoption.
- Establishing Barry University as a thought leader in “Responsible AI.” Develop a framework to address ethics, privacy, equity, access, transparency, security, and governance of AI principles.
- Launching a self-service process for students to acquire specialized credentials and stackable certificates.
- Creating student opportunities for internship, project learning, and scholarships.
- Supporting specialized recruitment initiatives.
- Conducting regular outreach to employers, technology firms, and state workforce agencies to identify and prioritize emerging skill requirements.
- Fostering and supporting cross campus education programs for faculty to lead in the adoption of technology into disciplines.
- Create a self-sustaining center via revenue-generating activities such as pursuing grant opportunities, state and federal funding, vendor support, etc.; developing programming for specialized industry training via CE opportunities, etc.; Renting Facilities; and establishing a student-led consulting practice to advise small businesses on how best to leverage innovative technology practices in their companies (AI, cybersecurity, etc.).
- All other duties as assigned. This is an In-Person position.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Master's degree in information technology or computer related field required.
- Five (5) years of experience and leadership with an established track record of success, bringing new ventures and ideas involving AI and other emerging technologies.
- Expert in data-driven decision making and complex problem-solving.
- Master planner with a proven track record of leading large-scale, multifaceted projects to successful completion.
- High proficiency in cutting-edge technologies, including AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity.
- Exceptional communicator capable of conveying complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
