DescriptionUnder the supervision of the Director of Clinical Operations, the Senior Vocational Nurse is responsible for monitoring staff and performing associated nursing services. This requires direct nursing care, medication administration as outlined by program protocol, patient flow coordination, and training/ monitoring staff. You will interact with staff, patients, faculty, and residents to maximize patient care and physician satisfaction. Administrative responsibilities include, but are not limited to, coordinating and monitoring patients/staff; working in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Operations on adjusting staffing on a daily basis to maintain efficient operations; ensuring JCAHO standards are maintained at all times; and ensuring maintenance of the facility. You are responsible for participating in Quality Assurance processes and maintaining professional standards at all times.
Salary Range:$34.61 - $45.66/Hourly
QualificationsRequired:
- Experience working with neurological patient population.
- Excellent blood withdrawal skills.
- Current California LVN license.
- Possession ofcurrent BCLS certification.
- I.V certification.
- Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.
- Working knowledge of abnormal laboratory values.
- Ability to recognize and intervene in emergency situations.
- Skill in usage of medical diagnostic equipment, as well as working knowledge of instruments and supplies required to perform clinical procedures and physical examinations.
- Ability to effectively elicit pertinent clinical information such as presenting complaints from patients and referring professional, and make appropriate assignments based on established guidelines.
- Ability to accept direction from administration and act promptly.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with patients, peers, physicians and administrators.
- Skill in listening perceptively, conveying awareness and responding to patients and visitors with health concerns using tact and discretion.
- Ability to interact diplomatically and sympathetically with patients, their families, and the general public in a high volume public setting.
- Skill in performing with frequent interruptions and/or distractions including the ability to accept equivocal circumstances and responds to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to maintain composure in the face of resistance, indifference, and hostility.
Preferred:
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work with sensitive and confidential information using discretion and judgment.
- Working knowledge of UC patient registration system, appointment scheduling system and order entry system.
- Spanish speaking skills.
- Working knowledge of outpatient practice operations.
