What You Will Do
- Partners with the product team to establish the priorities across an entire portfolio of product groups.
- Manages software engineering teams that design, build and maintain solutions across multiple technology products; ensures the translation of business requirements and functional specifications into logical program designs, code modules, stable application systems, and software solutions.
- Builds and maintains partnerships with all functions to ensure technology team members understand business needs, functional specifications, and user journeys.
- Provides insight and guidance, and resolves cross-functional issues that are escalated throughout the application development, testing, implementation, and support lifecycle.
- Ensures the creation of SOPs, OKRs, and overall operationalization of assigned services or applications within a product group.
- Hires, trains, and develops talent for growth opportunities; monitors team/individual's morale and engagement to maintain highly effective and collaborative environments.
- Ensures mechanisms are in place that allow teams to resolve production issues within defined SLAs.
- Monitors testing activities from a high level, ensuring that all testing efforts align to the team's testing strategy; meets with testing teams when necessary to review the progress of testing efforts.
- Responsible for departmental budget and forecasting decisions, and budget allocation; ensures technical solutions are delivered and maintained in a cost-effective manner.
- Responsible for overseeing teams that develop, implement, maintain, support and scale robust, reliable and secure business and enterprise software solutions.
- Partners with cross-functional leaders to ensure technology solutions built by the engineering team align to overall architectural and business standards.
- Ensures the alignment, buy-in, and support of diverse project stakeholders by building and maintaining trusting relationships with internal customers.
- Influences and establishes best in class engineering practices through solid design decisions and tools.
- Sets goals, strategies, budgets and oversees the deployment of large/enterprise scale initiatives and encourages a data-driven culture to improve the efficiency, scalability, stability, and security of applications.
- Manages a portfolio of services or applications and provides resources in support of the applications by leveraging partnerships with technology teams, vendors, and business leaders.
- Leads teams through all technology solution development phases by ensuring teams understand and adhere to company methodology, policies, standards, and controls; ensures team members are trained in SDLC methodologies, models, and processes.
- Provides leadership to the team by attracting and hiring talented individuals, setting goals and communicating clear expectations, providing timely and constructive feedback as well as meaningful developmental opportunities, managing performance, providing resources and support as needed, and sponsoring and leading team members through change.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field).
- 10 years of IT experience.
- 6 years of experience in software engineering or related field.
- Experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development life cycles (SDLC).
- 5 years of experience leading global technology teams with direct report responsibility.
- 2 years of experience working closely with senior leadership.
- 3 years of experience in managing operational and/or financial budgets, including the managing of 3rd party vendors and/or software providers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in a leadership role of a large matrixed organization.
- Experience managing the development, implementation, and integration of multiple and/or complex business systems within an organization.
- IT consulting experience.
- Experience in IT Management in the retail industry.
- 4 years of experience in software development in an agile environment.
- Second level IT management experience.
