Position overview:
The Computing Division at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory seeks an ERP PeopleSoft Developer to provide development support for the PeopleSoft Business Information System running in an Oracle RDBMS UNIX/Linux, Windows, and Citrix MetaFrame environment with specific emphasis on the PeopleSoft server infrastructure.
The ERP PeopleSoft Developer, who will report directly to the Manager of IT Business Systems HCM, will be responsible for the following: Conceptualizing, designing, developing, and implementing solutions using Peoplesoft HCM, FSCM, and SCM to support SLAC business needs. Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical problems for Peoplesoft Systems. Defining the application development processes and programming standards for ERP systems. Implementing solutions based on standards provided by the cybersecurity team that might require a compromise to the business needs. Performing technical tasks as part of the implementation of the Oracle HCM system, including data conversion and integrations, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and accurate data migration to support business operations.
Your specific responsibilities will include:
- Perform difficult or complex programming and analysis work typically involving multi-project leadership or broad responsibility. Contribute to all phases of a project, including systems analysis, program design, development, and implementation. Work on systems and programs typically covering two or more functions, large single functions, or major portions of large functions, interfacing with other complex systems and programs.
- Provide innovative programming and analysis skills.
- Propose, conceptualize, design, implement, and develop solutions for difficult and complex applications independently.
- Oversee testing, debugging, change control, and documentation for major projects.
- Supervise professional staff, as necessary, working on all phases of application development projects.
- Engage in long-term strategic planning.
- Define complex application development processes and programming standards.
- Oversee the support, maintenance, operation, and upgrades of applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems.
- Review the physical design of existing systems for optimizing performance.
- Lead projects, as necessary, for special systems and application development in areas of complex problems.
- Collaborate with other technical professionals to develop standards and implement best practices.
- Communicate with and provide updates to supervisor and stakeholders of issues, enhancements, and projects.
To be successful in this position you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree and eight years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and programming tools.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, testing, and deploying applications.
- In-depth knowledge of application/interface/workflow/report development using all technical tools provided by PeopleSoft: PeopleTools, PeopleCode, Application Engine, Integration Broker, Web Services, SQR, AWE workflow, PS Query, nVision, XMLP/BI Publisher, as well as Oracle HCM.
- Strong understanding of data design, architecture, relational databases, and data modeling.
- Thorough understanding of all aspects of software development life cycle and quality control practices.
- Ability to define and solve logical problems for highly technical applications.
- Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical clients.
- Demonstrated experience leading activities on structured team development projects.
- Ability to select, adapt, and effectively use a variety of programming methods.
- Ability to recognize and recommend needed changes in user and/or operations procedures.
- Experience with Oracle Cloud or Workday is strongly preferred.

The expected pay range for this position is $137,000 – $186,000 per annum. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
