Position Summary
Mid Coast Hospital, a 93-bed hospital located in the picturesque mid-coast region of Maine, is seeking an experienced primary care or specialty care clinical leader to serve as its Senior Medical Director.
The Senior Medical Director will oversee Mid Coast’s 22 ambulatory clinics spanning primary care and more than a dozen specialty practices. The Senior Medical Director will manage 4 medical directors and oversee more than 150 providers. This position will report to the Regional Vice President, Physician and APP Services, Coastal Region.
Working in close partnership with an administrative dyad partner and hospital CMO, the Senior Medical Director will be a member of hospital senior leadership and be responsible for the development of MaineHealth Medical Group clinical, operational, and financial strategies at Mid Coast Hospital and will be an active leader in regional ambulatory quality, safety, and regulatory affairs as well as provider recruitment and engagement initiatives. It is expected that 0.6 FTE will be dedicated to administrative effort and 0.4 FTE will be dedicated to clinical practice.

Requirements
- MD/DO or APP certification required from an accredited program.
- Licensure in the state of practice, Federal DEA number, Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges, must achieve and maintain Board Certification in respective specialty.
- Previous leadership experience.
- Physician with previous leadership experience and exceptional clinical reputation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Well-versed in healthcare finance and knowledgeable of practice information technology (ideally Epic).
- Possesses contemporary market insight regarding the current status, trends, and outlook for the healthcare delivery system.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically while remaining operationally and financially grounded.
- Solid operational and financial skills to ensure that resources are applied in a most effective manner for achieving quality of care and service.
- Possesses the political, interpersonal and organizational skills to work effectively in a matrix management setting.
- Action-oriented and results-driven, with a sense of urgency and the ability to instill this in others.
