The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. We are currently seeking a Director, ASHE Membership Engagement for our Chicago office. This position is a hybrid role (three days in the office, two days working remote).
Starting base salary = $120,000 - $150,000 (commensurate with related experience).
- The Director, ASHE Membership Engagement leads ASHE's overall efforts to recruit, retain, and engage membership. Maintains a visible presence and cultivates relationships with members, prospective members, and other key stakeholders. Seeks and develops opportunities to connect in person, including personal visits and attendance of events.
- Collaborates across teams and key members to create a roadmap for sustainable membership growth, and to establish short- and long-range plans and goals to achieve organizational membership objectives (outlining data driven membership, retention, and recruitment strategy and implementation plans). Develops plans and programs to stimulate member engagement as a means of membership renewal.
- Oversees all membership data, tracking and reporting, including but not limited to accurate membership records, membership trend analysis by region, recruitment and retention reports, current, new, and prospective member information, member experience throughout the join and renewal process.
- Initiates and manages strategic partnerships with other auxiliary-related associations and groups to help recruitment and retention of membership; including, but not limited to, attendance at these types of conferences to represent the association.
- Works with key management team to set annual membership goals and provides monthly insight into membership revenue and tracking to annual goals.
- Leads efforts with members, teammates, and other stakeholders to refine/establish ASHE membership award and recognition programs, including award criteria, timelines, nominations, and ceremonies.
- Serves as staff liaison to respective membership committees; assists the committee chair in agenda development and execution of all committee activities.
- Provides oversight for ASHE chapters located across and oversees activities and programs designed to strengthen ASHE's brand presence at a local level and provides a mechanism to measure chapter effectiveness. Oversees chapter training and support program focusing on chapter leadership, local and national program implementation, ASHE brand awareness, financial practices, and risk management.
- Identifies opportunities for members to contribute to the advancement of organizational programs and goals. Works to increase volunteer member effectiveness by creating structures and strategies that promote meaningful work and positive outcomes. Educates and orients advisory board members, volunteers, and staff regarding their responsibilities to maximize the capacity of the society. Works to develop volunteer leadership succession plans to facilitate transitions.
- Leads membership and chapter relations team, creating a culture of respect, collaboration, innovation, and responsiveness as well as excellent quality control, customer service, and timeliness for all work on the team. Advances team members' professional and personal development through coaching, mentoring, career counseling, and leadership development, including the development of interpersonal skills to increase their effectiveness.
- Develops and manages budgets in multiple budget areas related to governance, chapters, and membership; ensures financial goals are met.
- Continually identifies new solutions and opportunities to enhance effectiveness.

Bachelors of Marketing (required)
Experience
7 years: Progressive association management experience. Supervisory experience is also required. (required)
