The Chief of Staff to the CIO will enable the CIO to work most effectively with internal and external stakeholders and fulfill commitments to the people we serve, colleagues, and Executive Leadership Team. They are responsible for the coordination of projects that directly involve the CIO, IT cross-functional teams, and executive leadership team, while ensuring alignment among key company stakeholders. The Chief of Staff is a highly strategic and facilitative role that requires a combination of strategy mindedness and tactical abilities, as well as a willingness to play an active, behind-the-scenes role.
This role is 100% remote and can be performed from anywhere in the US.
Responsibilities:
- Liaise between the CIO, the IT leadership team, and the broader organization to ensure alignment among stakeholders, effectively articulate company priorities, and understand the breadth of projects within the CIO’s purview and how they relate.
- Develop and deliver portfolio progress/status to executive leadership.
- May lead or coordinate cross-functional teams in project execution or other CIO-directed assignments, and is prepared to make recommendations or support with operationalizing next steps for timely delivery.
- Ensure the timely generation of reports, presentations, dashboards, and summaries for a variety of stakeholders.
- Ensure the CIO is well-prepared and time is leveraged most effectively in a meeting context. Will include working with senior leaders, supporting their ability to prepare for leadership meetings, raise critical issues, and receive needed responses, guidance, or decisions.
- Manage the IT budget and planning process, working cross-functionally with IT leaders to ensure alignment with the Company’s expectations.
- Responsible for oversight and compliance with IT purchasing and vendor management processes.
- Create or assemble internal content to optimize collaboration and decision-making among the leadership team (realistic meeting objectives, agendas, preparation & facilitation materials) and ensure follow-up on major initiatives.
- Coordinate IT processes, procedures, and work to improve existing processes for maximum clarity, efficiency, and success.
- Keep CIO abreast of current IT department and Company climate (project statuses, new proposals, etc.), including opportunities and risk areas related to organization priorities.
- Perform other related duties and activities as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with strong academic curriculum, ideally in business, science, or engineering.
- 5-7 years’ related experience, with strategic consulting experience in a top tier consulting firm; strategic planning and execution skills honed through exposure to sound technology, analytical rigor, and operational focus.
- Experience with healthcare, human services, and/or private equity preferred.
- Proven track record of effectively interacting with all levels of an organization, including senior management.
- Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments.
- Strong business acumen, with broad understanding of all aspects of business, including finance, marketing, and sales.
- Project management and effective multi-tasking ability.
- Excellent communicator in written and verbal form.
- Sound judgment, diplomacy, resourcefulness, and self-motivation skills.
- Confidence working in a remote, high-autonomy environment.
Other Requirements:
- Travel as needed (Approximately 10-20%).
