The Data Engineer Team Lead Java Senior Vice President is a senior management level position responsible for accomplishing results through the management of a team or department to establish and implement new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology Team. The overall objective of this role is to drive applications systems analysis and programming activities. This role will heavily interact with stakeholders in the risk business team. The team itself isn't huge, it's a mix of fulltime and contractor both onshore and offshore. The stakeholders are an important part of this equation as well. This role will require hands-on technical skills.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure essential procedures are followed and contribute to defining standards.
- Integrate in-depth knowledge of applications development with overall technology function to achieve established goals.
- Provide evaluative judgement based on analysis of facts in complicated, unique, and dynamic situations including drawing from internal and external sources.
- Influence and negotiate with senior leaders across functions, as well as communicate with external parties, as necessary.
- Manage a team of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for team (e.g., performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions).
- Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management and planning while monitoring end results.
- Utilize in-depth knowledge of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues.
Qualifications:
- 10 years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer with Java/J2EE and SQL and experience managing small to mid-size teams.
- This role will work with supporting the Risk Business platform, which is being built right now.
- Experience using Object-Oriented Programming, Spring Framework, JDBC/Hibernate, JMS/TIBCO, Oracle PL/SQL, and MongoDB.
- Experience in enterprise development solutions in OpenShift container orchestration cloud platform utilizing Kubernetes and Spring Boot components.
- In-depth understanding of Big Data technologies such as RDD, Data frames, dataset within Hadoop, Spark framework (Spark API) and distributed databases such as MongoDB and Cassandra.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
- Master's degree preferred.
