Clinical Dentist will provide dental services, and work with students, clinic instructors, and clinical staff as part of the dental hygiene clinic. A clinical dentist may also be assigned didactic and laboratory instruction as part of the dental hygiene educational program as deemed appropriate by the Program Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide dental services.
- Meet budgetary revenue and expense expectations for Clinic operations.
- Train and supervise clinic endeavors of student dental assistant externs working in the dental hygiene clinical practice.
- Oversee radiographic prescription of all required prescriptive and diagnostic services as required by the State Board of Dental Health Care.
- Provide student oversight, clinical evaluation and consultations as determined by the Dental Hygiene Program/Clinical Director and Clinic Coordinators.
- Supervise care during medical emergencies.
- Collaborate with Clinic Assistant, Clinical Director and Program Director regarding dental clinic.
- Provide course and/or laboratory instruction as determined by the Dental Hygiene Program Director.
- Attend scheduled clinical meetings.
- Participate in faculty in-service training.
- Support and communicate with Program / Clinical Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current knowledge of the specific subjects taught.
- Licensed or certified by the appropriate agencies as a dentist.
- Three (3) years experience as a dentist preferred.
- Must hold current dental licenses, certifications or other designations as required by local, state or federal laws to work in the field.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point and dental computer software.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education or experience that meets the minimum qualifications.
