Field-Based Medical Affairs role reporting to a regional Clinical Practice Liaison (CPL) Director. The Madrigal CPL will proactively engage external Healthcare Professionals within identified geography to provide disease state education on metabolic associated steatotic liver disease/ non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (MASLD/NASH). The CPL will seek to empower clinical practices to improve patient care in NASH using guideline-based education on disease state, diagnostic tests, risk stratification, and clinical management. This may include adoption of care protocols, collaboration with key personnel to establish goals of therapy beyond comorbidity management, understanding regional payer requirements, and continuity of care in a multidisciplinary care model. CPL will also collaborate with other Field Teams (Medical and Commercial) to reactively respond to clinical practice or drug related questions.
CPL will report external insights to shape strategic plans and aid in corporate understanding of NASH educational needs at the practice level. Candidates will remain compliant with US and company applicable policies, procedures, and regulations including a strong understanding of compliance and non-promotional guidelines.
Position Responsibilities:
- Execute NASH disease education initiatives with identified NASH HCPs, meeting criteria developed to ensure education is directed to HCPs with the greatest need to understand patient identification, risk-stratification, and management.
- Interact with healthcare professionals, practice managers, and office staff to efficiently implement NASH care protocols.
- Maintain clinical, scientific and technical expertise in NASH and deep working knowledge of Madrigal products and other treatments for NASH and comorbidities.
- Present clinical data and conduct balanced educational presentations on NASH guidelines.
- Assist in the scientific training for Commercial and other internal colleagues regarding clinical practice standards for NASH management.
- Provide scientific expertise and support for speaker training and advisory boards as requested.
- Maintain open communications with other field-based Madrigal employees covering the same geographic areas and collaborate regarding regional educational needs.
- Represent Madrigal at both national and regional medical meetings to drive awareness of Madrigal, support Medical Affairs booth activities as needed, cultivate relationships and scientific exchange, and gain real-world insight from HCPs on clinical practice standards and NASH management.
- Consistent with appropriate scientific exchange practices for field medical roles, respond to unsolicited requests for medical information while adhering to all policies and procedures regarding the provision of medical information and documentation of requests.
- Adhere to all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations and maintain a strong understanding of US regulations and compliance.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Healthcare degree or science-related graduate degree (e.g., Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Pharmacist) or other life sciences or equivalent degree with solid medical/clinical background.
- At least 2 years of patient care in clinical gastroenterology/hepatology clinical practice or metabolic/diabetes management, pharmaceutical industry experience not required but preferred.
- Knowledge of Non-Invasive Test (NITs) used to diagnose and risk stratify NASH patients, NASH disease management, and clinical practice operations.
- Ability to deeply understand and convey disease state and clinical information.
- Working knowledge of the US Healthcare System, including care delivery, billing/coding, healthcare payments.
- Working knowledge of relevant research procedures as well as FDA and other ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
- Working knowledge of the rules and regulations dictating the medical affairs and research activities of life sciences companies in the US.
- Demonstrable multitasking, project management, and execution skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills, including efficiency, punctuality, and collaboration in a team environment.
- Proficiency with technology – computers, video conferencing, key software (e.g., Microsoft Office, CRM tools).
- Significant travel and ability to work independently in a field-based role, ~60-70% per week, including support of scientific meetings over weekends.
