SCOPE OF ROLE
Reporting to the Medical Director, Primary Care, the Associate Medical Director, Primary Care provides clinical service and medical leadership to Signature Health’s Primary Care department. The Associate Medical Director, Primary Care supports the Medical Director, Primary Care in the development of consistent, evidence-based and patient-centered approaches for the clinical care of individuals across the organization. This role works collaboratively with other clinical leaders to facilitate a cross-discipline team approach to medical care.
HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED
- Effectively manage and oversee the daily objectives of primary care providers, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
- Oversee primary care providers’ individual performance, including ongoing coaching, development, and goal setting through the performance review process. Promote professional development opportunities within the team.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among multidisciplinary team members.
- Assist in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of primary care providers.
- Contribute to implementation of Signature Health’s Quality Improvement Plan.
- Monitor and evaluate primary care practices, processes, and programs for quality and effectiveness, and develop plans for improvement.
- Actively lead team meetings and process improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.
- Promote collaboration to achieve integrated care across departments and specialties.
- Oversee the peer review process for primary care providers, including making recommendations for credentialing and privileging actions.
- Support the Medical Director, Primary Care in strategic planning and program development.
- Participate in budget planning and management for the Primary Care department.
- Participate in preparation for compliance reviews (e.g., HRSA Operational Site Visits, NCQA Patient-Centered Medical Home).
- Review and respond as appropriate to medical incidents occurring in the medical department.
- Provide clinical input to Occupational Health with respect to pre-employment assessments, medical testing, vaccination, and work-related injuries and illnesses (ex. needle stick).
- Assist with oversight of student rotations for medical, nurse practitioner, and physician assistant students, and medical residents as requested.
- Represent Signature Health in community collaboration opportunities as requested.
- Provide initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing support for patients with primary care conditions in outpatient settings.
- Practice in accordance with all patient care policies and procedures of Signature Health.
- Provide on-call coverage for after-hours emergencies and critical lab values as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned as Signature Health expands its scope and services.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Active and unrestricted medical license as a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant within the state of Ohio (MD, DO, APN, or PA).
- If physician or nurse practitioner, board certification in a relevant specialty (e.g., Internal Medicine, Family Medicine). If physician assistant, completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, preferably within a Community Mental Health Center and/or Federally Qualified Health Center.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Active DEA license required.
- Previous leadership or administrative experience is highly desirable.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical work environment, and may require on-call, evenings and weekends.
- Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work.
- Hearing: adequate to hear individuals in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
- Speaking: adequate to speak to individuals in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.
- Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
- Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds, unassisted.
- Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.
- Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
