IT Operations Manager

Salary Range: $145,840.00 - $218,760.00*
- The salary range is the one that Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP reasonably expects to pay for this position. Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology (IT Director), the IT Operations Manager plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the day-to-day activities of a team of engineers and analysts. This team handles all day-to-day operations of the Firm’s Information Technology department at all Firm locations and datacenters. The IT Operations Manager understands all areas related to cloud infrastructure and applications, network systems, storage systems, back-end server systems, and legal applications.
Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Oversees and manages the daily activities of the Operations team, ensuring smooth and efficient technical operations across the Firm.
- Leads the efforts to recruit, develop, and performance manage their team of operations engineers and analysts.
- Recommends improvements in operational technologies to advance the department.
- Contributes to the development, implementation, and compliance monitoring of Firm and IT policies.
- Ensures systems availability and optimal performance of the Firm’s operational technologies.
- Identifies emerging trends, develops long-term strategies for service improvement, and recommends appropriate solutions.
- Assists in the preparation, and management of the Firm’s annual IT budget, including staffing, hardware, software, and cloud services.
- Regularly collaborates with the other Information Technology and Services management on projects and initiatives.
- Collaborates with the Firm’s project management team on projects and initiatives.
- Works with Firm leadership and department managers on technology projects, ensuring successful implementation and maintenance.
- Analyzes, develops, and recommends solutions for operational business processes, cloud infrastructure, applications, telecommunications, and datacenters.
- Stays current with new and emerging technologies relevant to the Firm’s business processes.
- Contributes to the selection process of new vendors, negotiates terms and pricing, reviews proposals, and evaluates previous work to determine whether the vendor will be eligible for future proposal submissions.
- Additional management level tasks related to the technical operations of the Firm as needed.

- Understanding of network and firewall configurations, management, and knowledge of routing protocols

Minimum Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing a technical group of 5 or more operations engineers and analysts in a medium to large enterprise (300+ users).
- Project management experience handling small to mid-sized projects.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments using judgment and initiative to achieve results.
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate work while meeting time-sensitive deadlines.
- Ability to perform well under the pressures of a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of management, employees, vendors, and various external entities, including clients and prospective clients of the Firm.
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and composure in challenging situations.
- Strong written communication, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to maintain complete confidentiality, as needed.
- Ability to quickly learn and retain knowledge of new technology and software.
- Availability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time, as needed.
- Availability and willingness to work extended hours, nights, and weekends, as needed.

Working Conditions
Quiet office environment in a high-rise building, seated the majority of the time. Occasional work in datacenters with high noise and cool temperatures. While hybrid from a professional workspace in your home.
