Director, Marketing and Proposals

ROLE (High level):
The Director of Marketing and Proposals oversees the M&P staff in the production of marketing, technical, and corporate materials. This role ensures the availability of resources to meet peak workloads, analyzes requirements, organizes and manages planning and production efforts, and leads teams for specific projects. The Director is responsible for managing the quality of materials produced by the firm in response to formal and informal client solicitations, including requests for qualifications (RFQ), requests for proposals (RFP), and pre-solicitation efforts. This position plans and develops winning approaches and oversees the integration of materials from internal company sources, sub-consulting firms, and content writers (e.g., proposal managers and technical/professional staff).

Salary range: $140,000 - $165,000
Your Role (Responsibilities):
- Resource Management: Ensure the availability of resources to meet peak workloads and manage the quality of materials produced.
- Strategic Planning: Work with management to understand and implement the goals, mission, and proper resource allocation of the M&P team. Make recommendations to improve processes, quality, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
- Marketing Efforts: Independently support interoperating company cooperative marketing efforts. Provide guidance and information to executives and pursuit managers to increase the value and efficiency of marketing efforts.
- Innovation: Explore and develop new and creative approaches to presenting the company’s credentials and capabilities. Stay current in production methods and technologies that distinguish the firm from competitors and enhance the firm’s reputation and competitive edge.
- Campaign Development: Develop and execute marketing campaigns within the given budget. Steer the brand direction, collaborate across multiple departments, and drive the long-term marketing strategy of the company.
- Digital Marketing: Manage our PR firm specifically related to online advertising, social media, SEO/SEM, and digital content, aiming to enhance digital presence and drive online engagement and lead generation.
- Brand Management: Manage and nurture our brand, focusing on brand positioning, campaigns, consistency, and perception. Oversee the development of marketing brochures and related materials, including display booths for trade shows and professional conferences. Manage M&P support provided to the PR Firm, including graphics and editing for journal articles, press releases, and advertisements.
- CRM Management: Utilize our CRM tool, VantagePoint, to its fullest potential and provide training to its users.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, hire, assign, supervise, promote, and evaluate M&P team personnel responsible for the production of marketing and proposal materials. Make work assignments and follow up to ensure tasks and projects are completed to the highest standards of quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness.
- Proposal Management: Lead the Go/No-Go process, participate in pre-RFP strategy development, internal and external strategy sessions, pre-bid meetings, proposal team kickoff meetings, and review meetings. Contribute ideas and information to assist in the development of winning proposals and presentations and the development of optimal marketing products. Coordinate with Regional Managers and Regional BD Managers to ensure understanding and advance notice of upcoming activities requiring support. Take responsibility for the complete preparation of SOQs, proposals, and presentations as required.
- Active Projects Support: Oversee editing, graphic design, and production support provided to active projects for technical reports, visualizations, and other related materials.
What We NEED You to Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in marketing, proposal management, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in managing marketing campaigns, brand management, and digital marketing strategies.
- Strong understanding of CRM tools, preferably Deltek.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external partners.
- Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.), InDesign and Adobe Creative Suite.
