Team Overview
We are looking for the right candidate to join our Reader Chip Product Applications Engineering team, which is responsible for enabling our customers’ and partners’ success in designing and developing IoT solutions based on our latest generation of reader chip products, enabling embedding RAIN connectivity into devices.
You will be expected to become a technical domain expert for embedded firmware and software related to RAIN RFID technology and our Reader Chip silicon products and provide direct technical consultation to industry-leading customers and partners in the rapidly growing IoT space.
What you will do:
- Provide direct technical support and enablement of design wins with at strategic customers and partners
- Lead the creation of technical demonstrations and documentation to enable prototyping and productizing RAIN RFID readers based on Impinj’s RAIN RFID Reader Chips, including performance optimization, calibration, functional test, and regional certification
- Develop embedded firmware example code for customer prototypes
- Be the go-to technical expert for our partners, customers and sales teams on RAIN RFID technology and the firmware and software powering our Impinj Reader Chip silicon products
- Train customer Impinj internal technical staff on new product features, capabilities, and applied best practices
- Define customer and partner requirements for Impinj embedded developer tools
- Evangelize Impinj products at industry events and partner sites with solution proof of concepts and demonstrations
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science, with Master’s degree a plus
- 12+ years demonstrated excellence in product applications, customer support, and embedded system design, preferably in the RF or embedded space
- Experience writing and debugging embedded firmware in languages such as C and C++ on embedded platforms like Microcontrollers and Application processors
- Experience writing and debugging interpreted programming languages such as Python or Javascript
- Expertise of embedded firmware and RF communications, with experience in RAIN RFID systems a plus
- Experience with embedded test equipment such oscilloscopes and protocol analyzers
- Experience with RF test equipment such RF power meters, spectrum analyzers, and vector network analyzers
- Ability to confidently and succinctly present technology to technical audiences through presentations and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong teamwork and practical hands-on problem-solving skills
- Ability to multitask in a high energy environment
- Ability to coach and mentor junior applications engineers
- Willingness and ability to travel, up to 20%, including some international travel
Compensation and Benefits:
The benefits listed below may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Impinj and the country where you work.
The typical base pay range for this role across the US is $141,000 - $218,000. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties, requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Both market wage data and the mid-point of the pay range is reviewed and used as the starting point for all new hire offers. Offers are made within the base pay range applicable at the time.
At Impinj certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.
