Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President of Marketing & Communications (VP) is responsible for leading Out & Equal’s creativity and energy to advance Out & Equal’s mission. Collaborating with the CEO, the VP will guide the organization through strategic marketing activities and oversee consistent and authentic brand and messaging standards throughout the organization to foster prospective and current stakeholder engagement.
Highlighted responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Strategic Marketing Leadership:
Manage the marketing communications department, its operations, and staff to ensure all communication channels are leveraged to disseminate organizational information and key messages. Promote and enhance brand awareness, monitor the effectiveness of projects, and identify opportunities to support new revenue streams.
Develop annual marketing and communication strategies to drive thought leadership, while anticipating issues and threats to the brand and reputation. Use a mix of marketing channels with an understanding of how and when to implement them to achieve marketing objectives.
Oversee the development and execution of cross-functional marketing campaigns that drive awareness and engagement, including establishing and tracking metrics. Maintain brand integrity across internal and external marketing and communications efforts. - Community and Partner Engagement:
Partner closely with the Executive Leadership Team to inform the development of content messaging, campaigns, and experiences that activate current Partners, prospects, and other strategic partners.
Partner with the Revenue & Growth team to conceive of impactful proposals to identify new revenue streams, participate in brand partner calls, and share responsibility for annual revenue goals. - Innovation and Technology:
Leverage new technologies to deliver compelling and effective messaging, ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of communication trends and effectively engages its target audience. - Internal Communications and Content Management:
Develop, lead, and deliver integrated internal communications and engagement campaigns to drive ongoing awareness and education of the organization’s strategic priorities, programs, and initiatives.
Partner with the Chief Programs Officer to oversee content planning and calendar, including media and cultural partnerships. - Budget Oversight:
Oversee and manage the Marketing & Communications budget, providing accurate projections and tracking progress against targets.

Additional qualifications include:
- A bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
- Demonstrated success in the field of communications and brand and performance marketing, with a career trajectory that shows progressive leadership responsibility.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution, with a proven ability to translate data and insights into actionable strategies.
- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes while simultaneously managing several projects in a high-demand environment.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $180,000 - $200,000 with a generous benefits package. Highlighted benefits include four weeks’ paid vacation in addition to 10 office holidays and sick leave; fully employer-paid medical, vision and dental insurance for staff members; FSA and commuter benefits; EAP; life and disability insurance; and 401k plan with employer match and a 6% safe harbor contribution after one year.
