Job Title: Director of Event Sales

SUMMARY
The Director of Event Sales is responsible for guiding customers through event experiences by providing solutions that meet their goals and objectives to result in a compelling event or visitation experience. This includes assisting in setting overall event sales strategy, focusing on significant, repeat customers that align with the museum’s goals, securing and managing business relationships, and identifying key partnerships that may have potential to the museum outside of event sales. Event contracts can range from a small group event of 20+ guests to a high-end event production of 500+ guests.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for all aspects of the organization’s facility rental program.
- Develop and execute a sales plan to grow event revenue opportunities that aligns with the objectives of the department and organization throughout the year.
- Responsible for identifying new and repeat event business.
- Thoroughly research and understand customer history and previous experiences with the museum to create more personalized customer experiences.
- Identify and provide the Advancement team with clients that may have contribution or partnership potential.
- Develop and execute standard operating procedures in collaboration with Event Operations to ensure a smooth customer event experience, from sales inquiry to event breakdown.
- Work collaboratively and communicate frequently with internal partners on event-related opportunities and challenges, including but not limited to Event Operations, Catering, A/V, Facilities, Guest Experience, Retail, and Housekeeping.
- Be the go-to contact person for any event-related questions and queries.
- Attend site visits, pre-event planning meetings, the beginning of each event, and appropriate venue meetings as necessary.
- Prepare Event budget and monitor expenses for facility rentals and catering sales.
- Ensure all known opportunities and communications are logged into the CRM system and updated at all times.
- Create and present information and reports, as needed, to senior management related to performance, pipeline, forecasting, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience of event sales experience.
- Requires exacting attention to detail and excellent customer service, whether in person, or by other communication methods.
- Ability to work with major partners.
- Experience collaborating with others.
- Must be highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and timelines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellence in the English language (oral and written) required, Spanish preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Must be able to handle confidential/financial information.

- Must be available to work evenings and weekends on a consistent basis.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time, move quickly from space to space to quickly resolve issues and oversee events team members.
- Must be able to work for extended periods of time in elements, sun, heat, wind, etc.
- Daily tasks require variety of physical activities, related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting (up to 50 lbs).
