Purpose Statement
The Director of Systems and Software will provide global leadership, vision, and direction for the systems and software capability team for our Urology Division. In the role of Director, you will be responsible for growing and developing the System & Software capability team, providing strategic team leadership across the Urology product development portfolio. You will have the opportunity to significantly impact the development of truly life-changing patient therapies for the relief of debilitating diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a strategic plan for software development that aligns with divisional goals and objectives.
- Lead and drive systems and software lifecycle, from design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance and security.
- Grow and lead a global team including hiring, mentoring, career development, and performance coaching.
- Creation of organization competency in translating clinical needs to NPD teams.
- Responsible for organizational fluency in key standards for capital equipment and SUD such as ISO 60601.
- Partner with the product organization to develop milestone driven roadmaps for new features, and new products and service offerings.
- Build strong customer relationships, drive customer-centric decisions and partner with customers to help shape future initiatives.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the systems and software team.
- Demonstrate effective change leadership.
- Demonstrate ability to succeed in fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Build strategic and collaborative internal and external partnerships to further team and organization objectives.
- Represent the department in company-wide meetings and contribute to strategic decision-making processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of experience developing complex systems.
- 5+ years’ experience managing engineering teams in the development of medical device systems and software.
- Successful history of launching and maintaining products within the medical device industry.
- Ability to lead a global cross-functional site and build engagement.
- Ability to lead a multi-site team and collaborate with peers in different locations.
- Ability to direct and control the activities, budget, and headcount for the systems engineering organization.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrate a keen interest in Urology, workflows, clinical features, and user experience.
- Experience with durable medical capital equipment or single-use devices.
- Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and familiarity with data security and patient privacy laws is a plus.
