The CRS team at RE Tech works across multiple sectors – including commercial real estate, private equity, and investment lending – and partners with clients to design and implement programs focused on building decarbonization and climate risk. Our service offerings include design and implementation of programs that include decarbonization, carbon accounting, and transition and physical risk management. Summary Description
Own and maintain expertise and processes for climate risk technical services, products, and alignment with industry standards at RE Tech. Oversee training and development of RE Tech staff on associated services, products, and standards. Serve as the strategic advisor internally and to clients on climate risk management and strategy development.
Essential Job Functions / Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to an annual business plan for Climate Risk Solutions, as well as other teams as applicable, to ensure achievement of team objectives and alignment with company strategies and priorities.
- Establish yourself as a carbon expert with clients and serve as a strategic advisor on decarbonization and climate risk topics on key client engagements.
- Develop, define, and own processes for the delivery of services under your oversight, ensuring the processes are clear, efficient and responsibilities well defined, and team members properly trained to execute. Oversee the consistent execution of the processes.
- Oversee the technical accuracy of work and ensure excellence and client satisfaction for the Risk Management services.
- Work with the Director, Climate Risk Solutions, Head of Market Research & Innovation, and Head of Building Policy Advisory, to refine, expand, and/or develop climate and decarbonization services, as well as identifying the need for new and/or expanded services.
- Work with the Director, Climate Risk Solutions, to develop a training program for team members that enable them to efficiently deliver climate risk and decarbonization services.
- Contribute to the growth and development of RE Tech team members regarding technical expertise on climate and decarbonization services.
- Identify, develop, and deliver appropriate trainings, exposure, and experiences on climate and decarbonization services and processes to the Climate Risk Solutions team and across the company, as appropriate, and under the oversight of the Director, Climate Risk Solutions, and in coordination with Directors of other teams.
- Provide input and feedback to Supervisors on the performance of their direct reports, advising on growth and development needs, providing input for quarterly performance check-ins, and recommendations for promotions, as appropriate.
- Manage the development, career progression, performance management, and engagement of your direct and indirect reports:
- Ensure execution and proper alignment of goals, professional development plans, and performance feedback for all team members, including indirect reports.
- Contribute to team talent assessment, utilizing the Talent Review Grid to have meaningful conversations with your direct and indirect reports. Maintain clear understanding of where all team members are in their career progression. Use information gleaned to make employment and development decisions, including succession planning.
- Evoke creative and innovative thinking while helping team members to develop their skills and align their career aspirations with business goals.
- Contribute to business development efforts, in coordination with the Director, Climate Risk Solutions, VP of Growth & Innovation, VP of Sustainability Programs, and Account Managers, including:
- Participate in internal and external annual client strategy meetings.
- Ensure updated standardized scoping language and pricing for the services under your purview, and when needed, contribute to new scopes of work/proposals.
- Support new business opportunities, as directed by the VP of Growth & Innovation.
- Represent RE Tech at conferences, speaking engagements, and through thought leadership efforts.
- Oversee or support internal company initiatives to technology in alignment with Climate Risk Management initiatives. Advise on internal technology solutions and development of Trove modules that support climate risk management & decarbonization service delivery.
- Support the maintenance of the REpository.
- Monitor and stay abreast of climate and decarbonization industry topics, including building technical standards and frameworks addressing efficiency, electrification, embodied carbon, and decarbonization. Work with leadership on strategies to adapt and evolve to industry needs and changes. Work with leaders within your team, department heads and client managers, to identify the need to enhance or align current offerings with industry best practices and develop new offerings.
- Contribute to the vetting process of vendors and/or software platforms in the climate and decarbonization space.
- Serve as a role model for the company and within the sustainability industry. Drive collaboration and connection internally and externally. Continue to be a part of or join an industry community serving as a representative of RE Tech. Identify and oversee opportunities for team member participation In Industry groups.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Deep knowledge of decarbonization, carbon accounting, and climate risk assessment and mitigation.
- Deep knowledge of technical standards for building efficiency, electrification, and decarbonization.
- Knowledge of energy, sustainability, and decarbonization practices and programs in the real estate sector and corporations.

Required Education and/or Experience
- Experience leading the management of energy/decarbonization client program delivery and/or serving as a strategic advisor to clients to design, develop and implement decarbonization strategies and programs.
- Experience serving as the lead Project/Program Manager for multiple energy, decarbonization and/or sustainability client programs with no oversight and/or past experience operating in a similar capacity to this role.
- Experience independently developing and administering successful sustainability, energy and/or decarbonization programs at scale across large portfolios of commercial real estate assets, with specific expertise focused on one or more of the follow commercial sectors: office, multifamily, retail, warehouse, senior care, medical office, and hospitality.
- Experience independently developing and managing multiple time-based budgets, both as time and materials, as well as fixed price, balancing resources, timing, and quality of outcomes. Experience with resource and capacity planning.
- Experience in a client facing consulting role, delivering professional services, and building relationships across clients and internal teams.

Travel Requirements
Periodic travel is required for the role. Travel may include travel to RE Tech offices, if remote, or between RE Tech offices (Tysons Corner, VA and Dallas, Texas) for meetings (estimate of four times per year), as well as for Legence and/or client business needs.
