Overview
Azure is the world's computer, hosting critical workloads and the latest Large Language Model (LLM) models. The Azure Core team builds the operating system that powers Azure, focusing on software and Machine Learning to maximize the efficiency and reliability of our servers, Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), and datacenters. Our work, closely aligned with the Azure systems research group, has saved Microsoft billions and advanced sustainability goals. We're leading the charge in Microsoft's GPU/LLM initiatives, developing key components for Artificial Intelligence (AI) training supercomputers. As a Principal Software Architect, you'll drive the future of Microsoft's software-defined datacenter, reporting directly to a leader. This multi-year mission involves leveraging software, ML, and cross-layer optimization to build an industry-leading, end-to-end infrastructure stack. You'll tackle exciting challenges like systems to enable supercomputer training, dynamically composable servers, and software-optimized cooling systems, while serving as a technical leader, collaborating across teams, recruiting top talent, and writing impactful code. Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
