Role: Director of Hardware

Location: Maryland

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, managing all aspects of the Hardware Engineering Department, including organization and personnel (3 direct and 20 indirect reports).
Lead the development of new hardware products and ensure support for existing ones.
Oversee the department’s budget and project schedules, plan and allocate resources to meet project demands.
Develop and implement efficient processes and procedures.
Formulate and execute strategies for hardware engineering.
Ensure effective communication within the department and with other departments.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field and +10 years experience.
We are looking for someone in a leadership role (Director, Vice President, Head of level) at a growth-oriented mid-sized company.
Proven experience overseeing the development of complex products that meet rigorous standards (e.g., automotive, military, aviation, or medical).
In-depth knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and embedded software (firmware) development processes across the full product lifecycle, including R&D, prototyping, production, and sustainment.
Ability to rapidly adapt to changing business and customer needs.
Experience in growing and supporting large, multi-disciplinary teams in a challenging, fast-paced, and dynamic environment.
Excellent skills in personnel management and communication.
Experience working directly with Executive Leadership Teams.
