Job Description Summary:
The Senior Vice President of Safety is a key leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs and initiatives within SOLV Energy. Reporting directly to the CCO, this position requires a seasoned safety professional with a strong background in construction safety management, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation strategies.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
- Safety Strategy and Policy Development: Develop and implement a robust safety strategy aligned with the company's mission, vision, and values. Establish safety policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Leadership and Culture Building: Provide strategic leadership and guidance to promote a safety-first culture throughout the organization. Engage with executive leadership, project managers, and frontline employees to cultivate a shared commitment to safety excellence and continuous improvement, integrating safety-first planning across all phases of work including estimating, project planning and execution.
- Team Leadership and Development: Provide strong leadership and mentorship to the safety team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and invest in professional development initiatives to empower team members and enhance their skills.
- Safety Training and Education: Oversee the development and delivery of comprehensive safety training programs for employees at all levels. Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and external partners to address specific training needs, emerging safety trends, and regulatory changes.
- Incident Prevention and Investigation: Develop and implement proactive measures to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational hazards on construction sites. Establish incident reporting mechanisms, conduct thorough investigations, and identify root causes to prevent recurrence.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of federal, state, and local safety regulations governing the construction industry. Ensure that all electrical construction projects and operations comply with applicable safety laws, codes, and standards.
- Risk Management and Hazard Identification: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety hazards and mitigate associated risks. Implement risk control measures, safety protocols, and engineering controls to minimize exposure to hazards.
- Safety Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure safety performance and track progress over time. Prepare regular safety reports, dashboards, and presentations for executive leadership and regulatory agencies.
- Contractor and Vendor Management: Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure compliance with safety requirements and standards. Evaluate safety performance metrics, conduct audits, and provide feedback to improve safety practices across the supply chain.
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certifications required.
- Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP) or equivalent certification preferred.
- Proven track record of leadership experience in construction safety management, preferably in a senior management role.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in safety management systems, incident reporting software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
