JOB SUMMARY
The Chief Financial Officer for North Shore Health located in Grand Marais, MN, provides administrative oversight for all finance-related functions; provides financial expertise and support; develops and administers policies and procedures related to its accounting practices; plans, directs, controls and maintains all fiscal financial and reporting activities; oversees the development of budgets and forecasts; develops, implements and maintains decision support functions; acts as a financial liaison; complies with all legislative and regulatory requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelors degree in accounting, business or related field or equivalent experience.
Experience: Three (3) years related work experience including supervisory experience in a hospital or healthcare related organization; or other equivalent experience.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Masters degree in Business Administration or related field.
Experience: Five (5) years experience as a Controller in a healthcare service organization; or two (2) years experience as Chief Financial Officer in a healthcare service organization; or other equivalent experience.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certified Public Accountant
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting theory; knowledge of the principles and methods of administration, supervision and management; budgeting and data management techniques, data processing techniques as it applies to financial management; generally accepted personnel practices, and complex financial statistical data analysis. Advanced knowledge of personal computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet and data base management applications.
- Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of subordinates; prioritize work responsibilities, establish and maintain good working relationships with staff and assigned employees; understand and follow complex oral and written directions; exercise good judgment, accept personal responsibilities, and understand and administer financial contracts.
- READING: Advanced - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- WRITING: Advanced - Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
- SPEAKING: Advanced - Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, top management, public groups, clients, customers, and the general public.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Advanced - Ability to comprehend and apply advanced mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- REASONING ABILITY: Advanced Skills - Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
