Job Summary
The Director of Evangelization and Children's Faith Formation is responsible for assisting the pastor with the overall ministry and evangelization efforts in the parish to ensure that everyone in the parish encounters Jesus Christ and deepens their commitment to Him and His Church.
The scope of the role is to support, accompany, equip and lead lay leaders in discerning, designing, and implementing ministry and evangelization efforts.
The Director is also responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation and ongoing improvement of the religious education program (PREP). In doing so the Director must demonstrate leadership skills necessary to identify, develop, accompany and retain many volunteer leaders critical to the success of parish initiatives.
Requirements:
- Practicing Catholic with understanding and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission, and values.
- Comprehensive vision and understanding of evangelization.
- Demonstrated ability to engage parishioners and non-parishioners in the process of evangelization and community building.
- Ability to form and nurture a community of missionary disciples through encounter, accompaniment and sending forth.
- Mature discipleship evidenced in ability to comfortably witness to one's own faith journey.
- Demonstrated ability to foster an environment of inclusion and to engender a spirit of hospitality and welcome.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clergy, staff, parish leaders and volunteers.
- Previous experience participating in a parish faith formation program.
- Comfortable using various methodologies and pedagogies for helping children to encounter Jesus Christ and develop a relationship with Him.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the developmental needs of children with ethnic and family subcultures, as appropriate to the faith community being served.
- Developed skills in leadership and management, strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with technology used for communicating and presenting.
