Position Overview
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Product Catalog Team at Snap Inc! The Product Catalog Team is responsible for a series of critical services to support Snap’s Dynamic Ads business. Dynamic Ads allow advertisers to personalize ads for each potential customer from a selection of products. The Product Catalog team manages product data provided by advertisers and all product-level information that we use to steer recommendations in ads. The team’s capacities include:
- Merchants onboarding and ingestion of assets (Products and other kinds)
- Storage and management of these assets and other processed information with a flexible data model
- Delivery of these assets
What you’ll do:
- Design, implement, and operate our most critical and scalable services
- Work across teams to understand product requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver the solutions needed to build innovative products
- Evaluate, appropriately test, and debug your work, striving for high quality
- Advocate for and apply best practices regarding availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Experience with backend services or distributed systems
- Proven track record of operating highly-available systems at significant scale
- Ability to independently execute on medium sized features
- Understanding of the operational aspects of your system
- Ability to collaborate and work well with others
- Experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Large-scale microservices and distributed systems
- Cloud computing and storage systems
- Infrastructure and large-scale system design
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 11+ years of software development experience
- 2+ years of experience managing a backend engineering team
- 2+ years experience working with Machine Learning - ad or content ranking
- 2+ years experience leading high-throughput systems or Ad/Content Ranking Systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Java, C++, and/or Python
- Experience with NoSQL solutions, Memcache/Redis, Kubernetes, Docker or Google/AWS services
- Experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Infrastructure and large-scale distributed system design
- Machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch in inference settings
- MLOps and managing production machine learning lifecycle
- Online ranking/recommendations systems or information retrieval systems
- Generative AI or Large Language Model inference, vector similarity search

Compensation
In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position.
Zone A (CA, WA, NYC): The base salary range for this position is $222,000-$333,000 annually.
Zone B: The base salary range for this position is $211,000-$316,000 annually.
Zone C: The base salary range for this position is $189,000-$283,000 annually.
This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
