We are seeking an experienced Vice President of North American Manufacturing Operations for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics who will be responsible for leading the North American manufacturing strategy across our US sites including, Miami, Minneapolis, Carlsbad, Hebron and Brea. This position is a key member of the Global Operations Leadership team and will report directly to the SVP of Global Operations and will be located in Chaska, Minnesota. The VP will lead and direct both instrument and reagent manufacturing while providing leadership and vision related to materials, new product introduction, engineering, facilities as well as overseeing one of our ranch operations.
This position is responsible for the strategic leadership for the Chemistry, Immunoassay, Urinalysis and Hematology business units across 7 unique manufacturing sites. The role is responsible for the leadership of frontline leaders in direct execution of manufacturing operations to manufacture high-quality products safely and compliantly. The successful candidate will oversee a team of direct and indirect associates (circa 850+) and will work toward optimizing team performance to drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement in pursuit of operational excellence.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Provide strategic and tactical leadership and direction to the NA Manufacturing Leadership team across hardware and consumable manufacturing.
- Set strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity while providing clear direction and vision to inspire and empower staff to achieve excellence.
- Responsible for driving KPI’s and global performance in terms of safety, quality, on-time delivery, inventory, and operational P&L while collaborating globally and cross-functionally to accomplish business objectives.
- Lead adoption of the Danaher Business Systems (DBS) or Six Sigma throughout the teams to improve quality, delivery, cost, and innovation by applying problem solving, lean and Kaizen tools with a continuous improvement mind-set.
- Communicates effectively key strategies, decisions, operational challenges and countermeasures effectively up and across the organization.
- Partner with HR to identify strategies to develop, promote and retain key talent in the organization through engagement, communication, change and performance management initiatives.
- Lead projects and project managers in the development of project plans, financial plans, milestones, and targets.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor’s degree with 20+ years of experience, or Masters’ / Doctoral Degree with 18+ years of experience - includes 6+ years managing people. Experience must include Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain, and operating in an FDA/ISO regulated industry.
- Degree in life sciences, engineering, sciences, or related field.
- Proven leader in multi-discipline, multi-site operations (may require global experience), and ability to lead an organization through ground-breaking change.
- Prior experience in a DBS, Lean or Six Sigma Culture. Detailed understanding of Lean manufacturing tools and concepts along with a proven track record for lean implementations and documented resulting success.
- Proven track record to work cross-functionally and within matrix to achieve business outcomes and ability to travel up to 30%.
