Position Summary
The NBA is looking for a Senior Product Manager to support our mission of empowering NBA Teams to build outstanding, digital experiences through their team sites. You will work alongside the Product Lead to define strategy, drive organizational alignment, and ensure the successful launch and measured impact of feature sets and initiatives for NBA Team Sites. You will work closely with a team of developers, designers, project managers, NBA account managers, and strategic business partners across the company, working to align interests and implement scalable solutions. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a strong background in product management, excellent interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Major Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic thought leader for the Team Site product experience, crafting engaging experiences for fans while advocating for NBA teams in support of their business needs through optimization and scaling.
- Work closely with Product Lead to define product strategy and help prioritize the roadmap based on a self-developed understanding of stakeholder needs, product health, strategic goals, and marketplace opportunities.
- Determine KPIs, communicate product strategy, produce design mockups, and write detailed feature requirements to develop and ship new and innovative features.
- Lead and perform daily product management activities, including the definition of product specifications, requirements, user stories, and high-level technical and user experience flows.
- Partner with a diverse set of key stakeholders, including NBA Teams, development, design, account management, marketing, ads and sponsorship, DTC monetization, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Measure the success of features, content, and events and optimize their performance through data-driven iteration.
- Effectively support the product design, engineering, and QA teams throughout sprint cycles by proactively removing roadblocks and helping prioritize work and feedback based on established outcomes and business goals.
- Manage operational processes to ensure the timely delivery of new features and updates with a consistent level of quality, including risk mitigation and proactively escalating when appropriate.
- Work closely with the Product Lead to manage the Team Site Customer Portal to evaluate, plan, and execute team-specific requests.
Required Education/Professional Experience:
- 5+ years experience in product management with a proven track record of innovating, managing, and supporting digital products.
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes:
- Must be comfortable navigating complex, matrix-shaped organizations and be persuasive and empathetic to various departments.
- Experience working with analytics and measurement software tools coupled with strong data analysis skills.
- Technology-savvy with a deep understanding of evolving media and content landscape and trends.
- Strong presentation and written communication skills and experience leading product discussions with senior management.
- Strong project management skills with a proven track record of setting and delivering on expectations and commitments.
- Experience communicating (written and presentation) to senior-level executives.
- Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a cross-functional team while remaining detail-oriented.
