The Department of Neurology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ, part of Rutgers- the State University of New Jersey, seeks a full-time faculty to start on July 1, 2023. Function as Chief of the Division of Neuromuscular Disorders in the Department of Neurology. Board-eligible or certified neurologists with strong interests in clinical research and teaching. Participate in the clinical care of patients with neurological disorders in the sub-specialty of Neuromuscular Disorders according to a schedule determined by the Chair.
Responsibilities
- Function as the Division Chief of Neuromuscular Disorders
- Oversee the MDA-designated ALS Center of Excellence
- Function as the Chief of the Electromyography (EMG) Laboratory at RWJBH-NB
- Supervisor of Division Faculty
- Care for patients with neuromuscular disorders in the outpatient and hospital settings
- Perform electrodiagnostic tests in both the outpatient and hospital settings
- Attend the consult service at the RWJUH according to a schedule determined by Chair
- Participate in night and weekend call
- Participate in the Department’s educational activities, including lecturing students and residents and supervising the resident clinic
- Participate in the administrative activities of Department
- Participate in the clinical neuromuscular research program
- Participate in the General Neurology clinic at RWJ and satellite clinics as needed
- Participate in the teaching mission of RWJMS to the extent determined in consultation with the Department Chair
- Participate in the community service responsibilities of the department, such as providing neurological care for indigent patients and teaching or advising lay community groups in the area of neurological disorders
- Participate in the consult rotation and the weekend call schedules
- Attend departmental and institutional faculty/other meetings
- Participate in administrative tasks, including membership in standing or ad hoc departmental and institutional committees
- Perform other duties as required.
The Division of Neurology includes nationally and internationally recognized faculty with a proud record of productivity in clinical and translational research and excellent regional and national reputations as clinical referral targets. The department has 27 full-time faculty, 12 residents, and five nationally recognized centers of excellence. Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for the medical school.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: MD Candidates must be graduates of an ACGME-accredited neurology residency, be board certified or eligible in neurology; have completed a fellowship in neuromuscular disorders or related clinical neurosciences, and be eligible for a New Jersey License. Rank and track will be consistent with qualifications.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Must be able to lift 20 pounds and have direct contact with rodents.
