POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President of Procurement is responsible for leading and managing the company’s procurement and supply chain operations functions across all business units for both direct and indirect purchases. The Vice President will lead the strategic sourcing process that aligns to the company’s long-term business goals, including strategy development, spend and market analysis, supplier selection and negotiation, contract development and management, implementation, performance management and risk management. The VP will also lead the supply chain operations improvements including supply resiliency, initiative and contract compliance, supply chain efficiencies, and inventory best practice management. This position also requires close collaboration with other executives to support the organization’s growth and operational excellence.
FUNCTIONAL EXPECTATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Formulate and implement procurement strategy that aligns with the company’s long-term business objectives. This includes identifying and leveraging procurement opportunities to drive cost savings, improve efficiency and support innovation.
- Provide visionary leadership to the procurement team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Manage the end-to-end Source-to-Pay process, including supplier identification, sourcing, contracting, procurement, procure to pay less accounts payable, and supplier management.
- Implement best practices in procurement, including process improvement and digital transformation, to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve transparency.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives across all categories of spend without compromising quality or service levels.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers, ensuring high levels of service, quality, and reliability.
- Oversee the negotiation, drafting and management of contracts with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with legal requirements.
- Regularly report on and meet procurement metrics including gross and net savings, budget performance, compliance and other performance metrics.
- Ensure the compilation and maintenance of organized purchasing records, assuring that all purchase activities are fully documented and compliant with company policies and regulatory requirements.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive procurement experience, with at least five years at a senior director level or above.
- Prior supervisory experience required, with a minimum of 15 years’ demonstrated experience and success in team and direct report management, including team building, recruiting, and team mentoring.
- Strong leadership skills to manage and inspire procurement teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to align procurement goals with broader business objectives.
- Deep understanding of financial principles, budgeting, cost analysis, and financial reporting to make informed decisions that contribute to the company’s financial health.
- Expertise in negotiating contracts and agreements with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions that benefit the company.
- Strong analytical capabilities to evaluate data, assess supplier performance, and make data-driven decisions that optimize procurement processes.
- Familiarity with procurement and supply chain management software, ERP systems, and digital procurement tools to enhance operational efficiency.
- Understanding of relevant laws and regulations, including compliance and industry standards, to ensure ethical and compliant procurement practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey procurement strategies with organizational values.
- Capacity to adapt to changing market conditions and organizational needs, demonstrating resilience in the face of challenges and uncertainty.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to create documents, presentations, and data analysis.
- Prior experience in procurement leadership in both direct and indirect areas.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or in a related field. A master’s degree in one of these disciplines or related field is strongly preferred.
MISC:
Ability to travel at least 25 percent. Selected candidates will be required to pass a Motor Vehicle Record check.
