Job Description:
Job Summary: The Assistant Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) serves as a key physician leader with oversight of physician advisory services and supports the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) with oversight of the medical staff services. This position is responsible for providing hospital-wide clinical and administrative leadership. The ACMO works collaboratively with the medical staff and organizational leaders to further the mission, vision and objectives of JPS Health Network. The ACMO is responsible for supporting the CMO with the optimization, development and implementation of the acute care services and strategy for JPS Health Network. The ACMO works collaboratively under the direction of the CMO to ensure achievement of annual strategic goals and objectives.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:
- Serves as a key physician leader and supports the CMO with oversight of the medical staff services.
- Works collaboratively with leaders of medical staff to support their need and the needs of the organizations.
- Works in collaboration with the CMO and Medical Staff Affairs leadership to ensure regulatory and organizational compliance with necessary protocols and policies.
- Ensures compliance with CMS and Joint Commission rules and regulations.
- Collaborates with Medical Staff leaders and administration towards implementing evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes.
- Serves as visible and collaborative physician leader across the in-patient JPS care sites.
- Servant leader with the ability to gain deep understanding of current state of clinical program performance and inspire teams towards achieving aspirational goals.
- In collaboration with appropriate nursing leaders, will oversee and be responsible for hospital capacity management.
- Partners with the Network Quality Executive and the Quality department in all QI and quality assurance activities.
- Partners with the accreditation team and Network Quality Executive to ensure continuous regulatory readiness.
- Collaborates with leadership and medical staff to develop and implement new clinical systems/programs to enhance existing services.
- Works directly with clinical and operational leaders to make certain that all patients have a positive experience with our provided services in assigned clinical areas and that programs, systems, operations, and resources throughout clinical care delivery areas provide safe, evidence-based, and efficient patient care.
- Supports the CMO in partnership with department chairs to improve clinician well-being and engagement.
- Ensures that assigned clinical areas achieve clinical core measurement scores and have functional action plans for continued improvement in clinical care delivery.
- Ensures that all activities are conducted in a timely and cost-effective manner and in compliance with organizational values, professional standards, internal policies/standards/procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Anticipates and recognizes evolving factors that affect organizational needs/assigned clinical areas and participates in the development of strategies/initiatives/programs/projects to support growth and transformational change in patient experience, access to services, and clinical programs.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Current Medical Doctor (M.D) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree from an accredited school of medicine.
- A minimum of 15 years of clinical experience practice with 5-10 years of progressive leadership experience in highly matrixed healthcare organizations.
- Active Administrative medical license or ability to gain one within first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, medical management, and/or business administration.
