Job Purpose:
Our Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's accounting operations. This includes providing strategic financial guidance to the executive team, leading the accounting team, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures to support the strategic initiatives and growth of the business. The CAO will play a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity and stability of the organization.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the accounting department, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation of staff across multiple sites.
- Partner with business and financial leadership to evaluate the financial performance of the business and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Efficiently integrate financials and relevant back-office function from business acquired as part of inorganic growth strategy to enable rapid value creation.
- Collaborate with other executives to align accounting practices with the overall business strategy and assist in the development of long-term financial goals and business plans.
- Present financial information to the executive team, board of directors, audit committee, and other stakeholders.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team including the use of evolving technologies to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of accounting operations.
- Lead the transformation of back-office finance activities to leverage the latest tools and technology such as robotic process automation and generative AI to drive efficiency, accuracy and insights-driven support of strategic business objectives.
- Support the enterprise data strategy as a thought leader and data owner for critical data domains such as the general ledger, sub-ledger transactional data and master data.
Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- Oversee the timely preparation and presentation of accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other relevant regulations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets, proactively assess business risk, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Oversee annual financial audit and manage relationships with external vendors such as auditors and software providers.
- Public accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in a publicly traded company required; experience taking a company public strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of managing a large accounting team and driving process improvements.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Work Experience:
- 10-15 years of related job experience.
- 5-10 years of related experience of successful supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
- Experienced in providing leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes, and challenges.
- Experienced in strategic management and leadership across company functions directing substantial resources over long time frames.
- Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives.
- Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful).
- Strong planning and organization skills are required.
Education:
- Master's Degree
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
