Job Title: Senior Software Automation Test Engineer R&D
JOB SUMMARY
This senior software automation test engineer, R&D will provide leadership to the verification organization in the development of innovative medical technology products and services that improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of care. The candidate shall apply engineering, scientific, and critical knowledge to lead in design control, new product development, and improvements in existing products. The candidate will have excellent hands-on skills to integrate, characterize, and optimize the designs at the system and sub-systems levels and problem-solving skills to deal with complex and multidisciplinary systems issues. The candidate will design, develop, review procedures, and test protocols to verify the design per specifications. The candidate will compile data and define changes required in test equipment, procedures, processes, methods, or new testing requirements. This individual will also act as a mentor for junior engineers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Duties are listed in order of greatest importance. The incumbent may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the below mentioned responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs.
- Responsible for developing and executing automated test procedures to verify devices meet their requirements.
- Lead system integration test automation to ensure that test scripts conform to the defined test plans and procedures.
- Create tools and scripts for engineering and test: Proficiency in test automation frameworks and tools and experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java).
- Plan the implementation of new tests or enhance existing automation scripts.
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated test scripts, frameworks, and test fixtures to aid in the automation and efficiency of testing processes, ensuring accurate and repeatable test results.
- Utilize tracking tools to document and monitor defects, issues, and enhancements throughout the testing lifecycle and generate reports summarizing testing progress, results, and quality metrics.
- Develop and maintain efficient and reusable test cases, scripts, and test scenarios for functional, regression, and performance testing for both manual and test automation.
- Have technical knowledge of verification and validation processes to review and hold design reviews of various test protocols and strategies of product lines.
- Enhance the usage of various test management and requirement management tools in various projects.
- Communicate proactively, openly, and cooperatively within the department, team, and with supervisory staff to keep all informed. Prepare clear and timely written and oral status reports, updates, and technical presentations.
- Advise and mentor teammates on systems engineering and medical device development methodologies.
EDUCATION
BS Minimum of 8 years, MS 6+ years, OR PhD 4+ years
Experience in medical device or other complex electromechanical systems.
Experience with medical device development under FDA Quality Systems Regulations.
SKILLS
- Demonstrated written communication skills.
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills.
- Experience of using requirement management tools (Doors, Polarion or cognition cockpit, etc).
- Hands-on experience on system integration and test method development.
- Hands-on expertise with statistical analysis and design of experiments (Minitab, Jmp).
- Experience with analytical tools such as MATLAB, Python, R, LabView, etc.
