Manages and implements the Medical Equipment Management Plan for all aspects of Healthcare Technology Management / Clinical Engineering for one or more medical facilities. To function as the primary responsible contact between any assigned AAH entities and the AAH HTM/CE regional and HTM/CE system leadership. Manages assigned staff to ensure timely quality cost-effective solutions for the support of all medical equipment within the HTM/CE scope of service for the entities supported, to include ensuring all applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements are met. Participates in and/or assists with the departmental and hospital-based continuous quality improvement initiatives. Maximizes patient safety by supporting the proper use, application, and operational performance of patient care equipment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing staffing levels of technical service staff, able to manage Biomedical and/or Imaging service personnel, support equipment inventories, accountability for financial operating budget, and responsibility for interfacing with clinical, operating, and medical staff across acute and non-acute inpatient and/or outpatient facilities. May include leading other leaders (supervisors and/or coordinators) as part of responsibilities.
- Ensures all regulatory and accreditation requirements for the HTM/CE program are being met for the site(s) supported and implements the Medical Equipment Management Plan.
- Works with customers and HTM/CE leadership for helping identify and recommend opportunities.
- Ability to work with HTM/CE peer group to support site, regional, and system level strategies to improve operations and stewardship of resources.
- Recognizes issues that need escalation and effectively communicates actionable recommendations to the appropriate clinical and HTM/CE leaders for awareness and support of quick remediation.
- Participate with site and/or system committees, be an active part of or lead any meetings created to provide a forum for caregiver input on technology management strategies, to address service delivery issues, process changes, and projects, with the overall goal to provide for high-quality and cost-effective support solutions.
- Regularly reviews and assesses department functions and processes to ensure subordinates have the training, resources, tools, and opportunities to be most effective, successful, and satisfied in their roles.
- Creates a shared focus on the importance of achieving results within the team. Focuses on meeting commitments while maintaining a high level of employee engagement through consistent communication, coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
- Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.
- Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education Required: Associate degree in Technology or related field.
Experience Required: Five years of direct experience in Healthcare Technology Management for a hospital or related large-scale team leading others and with increasing responsibilities, demonstrated data analytical skills, general understanding of financial budget management and budget creation, and experience and familiarity with regulatory and accreditation requirements and standards for ensuring properly maintaining all types of patient care equipment within a healthcare organization.

- Ability to interpret highly technical analysis in non-technical terms for management reporting.
- Ability to effectively communicate and partner with organization and vendor executives, hospital and clinic management teams, and individual caregivers.
- Ability to solve problems by utilizing an array of information from vendors, subordinates, caregivers, and internal partners.
- General understanding of hospital operations as relates to patient care equipment, down equipment potential impact on clinical patient throughput, and demonstrate a sense of urgency when managing service events and providing updates to appropriate site customers and HTM/CE leadership.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Expertise in preparing documents for analysis and review.
- Demonstrated ability to function independently within a broad scope of guidelines with the ability to instruct, guide, assign, advise and lead team members.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to coordinate, mentor, and coach subordinates toward department and organizational goals.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills and excellent organizational skills.
- Awareness and understanding of applicable regulatory, accreditation, codes, and standards for the maintenance of medical equipment.
- Ability to effectively manage time and resources in a dynamic, complex, and highly visible environment with multiple dependencies, competing interests, and challenging timelines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Requires local and regional travel, so the incumbent will be exposed to road and weather conditions.
- Operates all equipment necessary to perform the duties of the job.
