Atrium Health Center for Digestive Health is actively seeking a full-time academic Gastroenterologist to join an established practice in the Charlotte, NC area.
The Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Department of Internal Medicine at Atrium Health Wake Forest University School of Medicine at Carolinas Medical Center seeks a full-time GI clinician-educator at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank to enhance our patient care and teaching missions. The Section of Gastroenterology has excellent clinical and educational programs related to general gastroenterology, advanced endoscopy, pancreatobiliary diseases, motility disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and liver disease and transplantation.
The successful candidate will rotate on the inpatient GI consultation teaching service and inpatient endoscopy services performed at Carolinas Medical Center monthly. This candidate will also participate in outpatient GI consultation and endoscopy services delivered at Carolinas Medical Center, affiliated ambulatory surgery centers, and the GI Fellows Clinic. There are opportunities for teaching Gastroenterology Fellows in diverse clinical settings and mentoring them in clinical research and other scholarly pursuits. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest and commitment to the teaching of medical students, residents, and GI fellows. They should also have an interest in teaching fellows' endoscopy.
Candidate Profile:
- MD or DO and board certification in Gastroenterology required.
- Prior clinical educator experience at an academic medical center required, 3+ years preferred.
- Prior or active involvement in research and scholarship preferred.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
