Job Information
The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine seeks applicants for an open rank Psychiatrist/Psychologist - Chief of Research Programs position within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health. The department is an emerging leader in scientific discovery within a diverse South Florida community. The Chief of Research Programs will be of central importance to the exciting expansion of the department's research programs by leading the strategic planning, implementation, and growth of these programs. The selected candidate will also attract extramural funded research into the department and continue a high-level research program supported by external funding. Candidates with a research focus spanning any area relevant to advancing scientific knowledge about psychiatry and mental health will be considered.
The Chief of Research Programs should have the potential to integrate with, translate to, or in some way advance the department's clinical services. Depending on the extent of funded research, the candidate will provide direct evaluation and treatment of patients at the FIU Health Faculty Group practice outpatient site and will participate in the educational training for medical students, Masters of Physician Assistant Studies students, and psychiatry residents. The selected candidate may also be eligible for appointment as Vice-Chair.
Candidates will be asked to provide contact information for at least three references (previous supervisors) who will be contacted as determined by the search committee.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a terminal degree such as MD, DO, PhD or PsyD, an unrestricted license (or license eligible) to practice in the State of Florida, and demonstration of active involvement in research. Training in an allopathic psychiatry residency and board certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) (or obtaining board certification within one (1) year of employment) are required for physicians.
Desired Qualifications
Highly desired qualifications include demonstration of active involvement in clinical practice and a record of administrative leadership.
