Your Opportunity:
The Senior Director, Strategy is a trusted advisor to the global leadership and will lead the strategy and business development activities for various business initiatives, including portfolio assessments projects, growth opportunities, acquisition, and business development activities. The Senior Director, Strategy will have frequent interactions with the executive management, including the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer, as well as strategic business unit Presidents and functional leaders.
This is an internal consulting leadership role, and as such the successful candidate must possess excellent business acumen, interpersonal skills, communication skills, and leadership to further advance to a significant functional and/or business leadership position.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
The Senior Director, Strategy will report to the Chief of Strategy and Corporate Development who in turn reports to the CEO and will have responsibilities in business growth through both organic and acquisitive means. This is a strategic thought leadership role and facilitator of enterprise value.
Identify key growth opportunities and pathways to execute on those opportunities.
Develop new ideas and constructively challenge existing ones, for the organization to refine its "where to play" and "how to win" choices to drive growth and sustain competitive advantage.
Own strategy development for opportunities that break new ground and expand addressable market.
Partner with the leadership team to continuously refine strategies and priorities to help achieve growth, customer experience enhancement, and margin expansion goals.
Partner with General Managers and other key functional leaders to develop M&A strategy and M&A pipeline globally.
Provide thought leadership and drive the process of assessing the strategic fit, synergy potential, and key risks to enable the executive team to make well-informed inorganic investment decisions.
Coordinate competitive intelligence across the business, focusing on market sizing, share of market, and growth trends and drivers, and competitors.
Support / Develop multi-year strategic plan and annual operating plan performance plan, budget, and targets.
Develop strategic plans that enable the company to grow faster than the market in selected verticals.
Help lead cross-line of business initiatives and identify strategic priorities.
Qualifications:
The Senior Director, Strategy will bring experience developing strategic growth and business development plans.
Corporate experience combined with top-tier strategic management-consulting experience is strongly preferred.
They must have proven success defining and implementing strategic planning, growth, and/or operational enhancement initiatives in a global manufacturing or related industry. The successful candidate must possess proven strategic, analytical and implementation skills.
10 plus years' strategy experience driving growth initiatives in industrial manufacturing with global reach.
Experience defining strategy plans with a fact-based approach to competitive analysis, customer segmentation, market attractiveness and product positioning, financial analysis, external and execution risks, potential impact and scenario planning, resource requirements, and regional and global implications.
Experience defining "white space" opportunities and accessing adjacencies (in market, product, share of wallet, technology and related) and think beyond where we are today.
Exposure with implementing portfolio positioning and growth options.
Engagement project lead / project manager.
Business case development with financial acumen and strategy toolkit.
M&A and divestiture identifying and developing targets and modeling scenarios.
Strong project management, financial and analytical skills.
Global exposure, with experience in developing effective global business strategies across many different operating environments.
Breadth of industrial experience such as automation, software digitization, technology or related preferred.
Global work experience desirable.
Experience in a non-strategy role desirable.
Leadership Qualifications:
The Senior Director, Strategy will be expected to be a high-energy, creative, and resourceful self-starter who demonstrates leadership skills and instincts. In terms of personal competencies, the successful candidate must be a hands-on person who possesses the best combination of strategic thinking that also leads to tangible results. They will be an excellent broad-based business thinker who can collaborate effectively with peers and executive functional and senior business line leaders.
In addition, the Senior Director, Strategy should possess the following competencies:
