You will be part of a talented engineering team conduct structural analysis, mechanical testing and validate detailed mechanical designs that result in successful integration of connectivity systems into commercial and business aircraft.
What you will do
- Lead analysis programs that validate safety and structural integrity of how Intelsat's connectivity systems are integrated into aircraft.
- Lead analysis and test activities to assure timeliness of tasks in support of project schedules.
- Coordinate analysis tasks with internal and external resources to assurance compliance with project goals.
- Resolve hurdles as necessary to avoid delays in the project and escalate challenges to the appropriate stakeholders in a timely fashion to assure activities track to project schedule targets.
- Collaborate with internal/external engineering and program groups to assure full visibility on of your tasks is provided to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency of project tasks or departments processes and procedures.
- Provide related guidance/counsel and communicate program information within the organization and external supporting groups.
- Develop design Certification documents, such as Wire Routing Assessment, System Safety Assessment, Electrical Load Analysis, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, EWIS Assessment, Technical Publication Manuals.
- Provide guidance to product development teams as it relates to regulatory and industry standards.
- Work closely with FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) and external Organization Designation Representatives (ODA) unit members to ensure compliance and aircraft safety requirements.
- Support Quality with Material Review Board (MRB) activities and Corrective Action Requests relating to safety and quality of aircraft components.
Your required experience/skills
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
- A minimum of 5 years of recent, relevant experience in aircraft related structural design engineering and analysis.
- Track record in successfully obtaining STC approvals via development of Finite Element Models (FEMs), Structural analysis, Damage Tolerance, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICAs) and related analysis.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Advanced proficiency and understanding of Mechanical Design in Solid Works (or similar) and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of aircraft structures, design for structural modification & integration.
- Experience with Configuration Management (CM), preferably Agile.
- Ability to travel occasionally, including internationally up to 5%.

- Demonstrable windmilling analysis proficiency.

- CALIFORNIA STATE EXEMPT Pay Rate: The annual salary range for this position is $110,450 to $145,350. In determining compensation, Intelsat considers factors including position scope and responsibilities, candidate's work experience, education/training, skills, internal peer equity, as well as others when extending an offer.
