IonQ is developing the world's most powerful full-stack quantum computer based on trapped-ion technology. We are pushing past the limits of classical physics and current supercomputing technology to unlock a new era of computing. Quantum computing has the potential to impact every area of human society for the better. IonQ’s computers will soon redefine industries like medicine, materials science, finance, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cryptography, and more. IonQ is at the forefront of this technological revolution.
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to support our production of quantum computing systems. As a member of the product management organization, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
As the Production Systems PM, you’ll advocate for our customers and their experience with our products using data-driven analysis. You’ll work closely with our operations, production engineering, systems engineering, quality management, and platform teams to identify improvements in how our systems operate that deliver quantifiable value, and you’ll lead collaborative efforts to make sure those improvements are implemented as intended in current and future systems. In addition to your day-to-day focus on our production systems, you will play a vital part in shaping priorities for developing the next generation of our enterprise-grade quantum computers, creating a critical feedback loop between present issues and future designs. While prior experience with quantum computing is a plus, your ability to learn quickly and make sense of complex technologies will be key in this role.
Responsibilities:
- Immerse yourself in IonQ’s unique flavor of quantum computing (hardware and software), its advantages, and overall considerations.
- Collaborate with the marketing and sales team to understand the expressed needs of IonQ's existing and potential customers, and establish your own direct relationships to form your own independent point of view.
- Identify and understand how our production quantum computing systems generate value for our customers and our business.
- Establish and track metrics and leading indicators tied to that value.
- Verify that we are delivering value as intended and provide the data necessary to prioritize any operational tradeoffs that may be needed over time.
- Represent the voice of IonQ’s customers in internal discussions.
You’d be a good fit with:
- 4+ years of product management or technical operations experience, including launched product support.
- Track record of data-driven analysis and using quantitative decision frameworks.
- Comfort dealing with advanced technologies, even if you have knowledge gaps, while collaborating with a broad range of engineering experts and scientists to improve your understanding.
- The ability to synthesize data and opinions into clear written reports/memos about complex topics to represent the voice of the customer at IonQ.
- Can organize insights and priorities despite ambiguity and collaborate with a broad team to understand and adopt your recommendations.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as physics, computer science, or engineering.
You’d be a great fit with:
- Experience working in the quantum computing industry or using quantum computers in another industry (hands-on experience developing basic quantum circuits).
- Experience managing hardware products located in enterprise-grade or high-performance data centers.
- History of independent, primary analysis of raw streams of product/operational data (e.g., via SQL) and the ability to turn that data into actionable insights with broad organizational alignment (both technical and non-technical audiences).
- Master’s degree or higher in a technical field such as physics, computer science, or engineering and/or an MBA.
