Description
The Overnight Program Director leads and oversees program staff & operations across multiple sites in the region, ensuring the smooth delivery of services and the well-being of staff on the first shift. Reporting to the Director of Shelters and Services, and in collaboration with the leadership of each site, this role will travel throughout the week to all sites in an assigned territory, ensuring smooth operation and the delivery of high-quality services during the overnight hours. This role will be the main point of contact for emergencies and issues at sites in the assigned territory during overnight hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Staff Leadership and Development:
- Foster a positive and collaborative overnight team environment that prioritizes staff well-being and reduces burnout.
- Provide strong leadership and direction to overnight staff, ensuring effective operations across all sites.
- Collaborate with the site leadership to develop and implement training programs tailored for the needs of the overnight staff.
- Conduct regular 1:1 meetings and training sessions to develop staff skills, address concerns, and promote professional growth.
Program Monitoring and Oversight:
- Conduct regular visits to all sites in the assigned territory to ensure smooth operations and that programs are delivered consistently and meet quality standards.
- Monitor staff adherence to program policies and procedures, addressing any concerns promptly.
- Conduct regular safety/security access/camera audits at all sites in assigned territory, addressing any concerns.
- Oversee overnight data collection procedures and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Continuous Improvement and Communication:
- Identify trends across sites and collaborate with Programs Leadership to develop and implement solutions for improvement.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with the regional leadership, site leadership, staff teams, and relevant stakeholders.
- Stay informed of best practices in homelessness services, particularly as they pertain to overnight program delivery.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field preferred (extensive experience may substitute).
- Possess a valid driver's license with no serious traffic violations, and meet all criteria to be an agency driver.
- Minimum 5 years of experience successfully managing homeless programs.
- Proven track record of program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire staff.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Deep understanding of the challenges faced by homeless populations, including mental health issues, substance abuse, and domestic violence.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a willingness to learn and grow in this area.
- Bilingual Spanish speaking a plus.
