The role will provide legal support to multiple functions within the firm, with an opportunity to have a material impact on the continuing development of the firm. The Opportunity:
Reporting into Fisher's Legal & Compliance group, you will gain exposure to many departments and projects within Fisher Investments, and an opportunity to advise on many different (and unrelated) legal areas. You will support the firm’s institutional business, its global ESG program, its outsourcing program, and the firm’s expansion efforts into new jurisdictions and/or services. Whether it is through the negotiation of contracts with some of the firm’s largest clients and service providers, or partnering with management in developing/adjusting policies in response to new regulations, you will drive results across some of Fisher's most critical areas.
The Day-to-Day:
- Processing agreements, and other addendums and amendments to such agreements (which will include you reviewing, negotiating and approving a portion of such contracts)
- This is senior-level professional work in which incumbents are developing their roles, increasing their skills, assuming increased responsibility, and working under general guidance
- Support the firm’s institutional business, which includes:
- Negotiating investment management agreements
- Providing legal advice to the firm’s institutional funds team
- Advising management in the institutional business
- Review requests for proposal submissions
- Review responses to due diligence requests
- Helping the institutional business navigate new and/or changing regulations across multiple jurisdictions
- Be the lead legal support for the firm’s global ESG program, which includes providing advice on new/changing ESG regulations in multiple jurisdictions
- Provide legal advice on new/changing regulations in various jurisdictions as needed
- Provide legal support services to the firm’s outsourcing program, which includes:
- Oversee the review, negotiation and approval of service provider agreements
- Providing legal advice to the firm’s outsourcing program
- Help the firm's expansion efforts by assisting with the creation of new subsidiaries, obtaining licenses/permissions for expanded services in existing jurisdictions, and negotiating real estate contracts
- Coordinate with outside counsel
- Train paralegals, fellow attorneys and business colleagues on new and/or changing regulations
Your Qualifications:
- Law degree from an accredited law school, with admission to a bar
- 4+ years of experience at an AmLaw 200 law firm, or at least 3 years of experience at an AmLaw 200 law firm coupled with 2+ years of in-house corporate experience
- Experience negotiating contracts
- Experience providing legal advice on new and/or changing regulations to large corporate organizations
Compensation:
- $180,000 - $210,000 base salary per year in the state of WA. New hires should expect to start at the lower end of the range depending on experience.
- Eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance
