Rapiscan Systems, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Product Line Director, based out of Billerica, MA.

The Product Line Director, Software & IT Systems the Cargo & Vehicle Inspection (CVI) business, in partnership with Software Engineering management, provides overall leadership and direction for our system software & IT platforms and product offerings, including our AI-based image analytics algorithms.
The position requires both business and technical acumen as well as the ability to provide cross-functional leadership. The Product Line Director must develop and drive a product line strategy to meet short and long-range business objectives for revenue, growth, profitability, quality, and customer satisfaction.
The Product Line Director will accomplish the following, in collaboration with Engineering, other Product Line Managers, and other stakeholder functions where appropriate:
Responsibilities
Product Line Strategy / Business Development
- Establish a vision, strategy, and roadmap for our software and IT platforms that meet business objectives and the needs of our CVI product lines.
- Develop and display a comprehensive understanding of the market and competitive landscape. Create and present analyses of the external environment to inform product and business decisions.
- Develop business plans to create profitable revenue streams for our Software, IT, and AI solutions.
- Work with sales and service business development teams to identify and capture launch customers for new offerings.
New Product Development
- Initiate development programs and develop Product Requirements Documents.
- Engage with development team throughout the NPD cycle to work through key decisions and trade-offs.
New Product Introduction & Product Offering Management
- Product Management is responsible for defining and communicating the Product Offering, including product configurations, options, and pricing, so the sales group is able to quote products correctly.
- Work with Marketing to develop go-to-market strategies for new products.
- Develop and standardize portfolio of 'semi-custom' capabilities within the software and IT domain.
- Develop compelling customer-facing presentations, proposal templates, and other content to explain our product offerings and their benefits.
Sales and Marketing Support
- Support quoting and bid/proposal efforts for all 'non-standard' product requests. (Non-standard product refers to any capability that is not released to sales). For 'non-standard' items, Product Management leads the creation of all NRE, cost, and schedule estimates, working with Engineering, as well as all supporting proposal content.
Other Product Management
- Work with other organizations, including leading cross functional teams, in ensuring that key issues facing the product line are addressed. Must be able to lead teams and exhibit strong decision making, considering the best interest of the product line and the overall business.
- Prioritize product sustaining work; manage critical product support projects, if required.
- Responsible for updating senior management on key issues and elevate any issues that need assistance with resolution. Must have the ability to create and deliver communications appropriate for a senior management audience.

Qualifications
- 15+ years of total related experience in Product Management, Product Marketing, Strategic Marketing, Engineering, and/or Program Management.
- Technical background - Significant experience related to software systems and products, preferably on software platforms for running complex electro mechanical products. Must have experience with agile development methodology. Must be familiar with basic IT equipment, networking solutions and cybersecurity requirements.
- Financial acumen. Knowledge of key financial areas including product costing, project costing, project management and business case development practices. Able to assess financial impact of all product line decisions. Able to construct financial and cost analyses and present to management.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Must have the ability to create and deliver reports and presentations for a senior management audience.
- Proven track record leading people and teams, in either a project management or direct supervisor capacity.
- Must be able to demonstrate strong decision making and critical thinking ability.
- BS in engineering or another technical field required; MS/MBA a plus.
- Experience in the Security Detection industry highly preferred.
- Experience in businesses selling to government agencies is preferred.
- Program management experience desired.
- Ability to travel globally, up to 20%.
