Pediatric Nephrologists with Clinical and/or Research Focused Scientists
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics, and Children's Health Dallas seeks to hire outstanding individuals to join our rapidly growing, collaborative and academic group in the Division of Pediatric Nephrology. We welcome candidates with an interest as a clinician, clinical researcher or basic science researcher.
Clinically Focused Positions
- Clinical focused faculty members are responsible for attending inpatient, dialysis and ambulatory services. Responsibilities include supervision and teaching of pediatric residents, medical students and pediatric nephrology fellows from UT Southwestern Medical School.
- Our program is one of the largest and most modern dialysis units in the country with approximately 50 chronic dialysis patients divided between hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
- The main hospital has a large intensive care patient population housed in the PICU, NICU, and CVICU for which we provide consultation and all modalities of CRRT including PrisMax, Aquadex, Carpediem, and MARS.
- Robust outpatient general nephrology program, multidisciplinary stone center, and an active kidney transplant program.
- Additional programmatic development in acute care nephrology, cardiorenal syndrome, and nephro-urology are under development, which will provide additional opportunities and resources for clinical/translational research projects.
- We perform 10-20 kidney transplants per year and follow more than 200 kidney transplant patients.
Research Focused Positions
- Research focused faculty should have experience in basic science and/or clinical translational research.
- Strong footprint of basic science exists within the Department of Pediatrics and the Division.
- Numerous resources and interdepartmental collaboration especially with Internal Medicine Nephrology.

- Robust faculty development opportunities, including grant writing courses, leadership training, as well as many opportunities to participate in educational endeavors, quality improvement projects, and to collaborate with basic scientists and other clinical researchers within the medical school.
Clinical applicants must be eligible for licensure in the state of Texas and be board eligible or certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology. Clinical or Research candidates are required to have an MD, MD/PhD, PhD or equivalent degree.
