Brown and Caldwell is looking to expand our team in Oregon with a Senior Engineer in Wastewater, specializing in process and facility design. You will have an essential role in our Northwest Area business. In collaboration with the Oregon Municipal Operations Manager, Client Service Managers, Technical Service Leaders, and the Marketing Manager, you will maintain and develop client relationships, connect BC solutions to client needs, and lead project teams in quality project delivery.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include engineering and technical leadership for a variety of projects to provide planning, evaluation, and design activities for wastewater treatment facilities. Our ongoing and upcoming work includes projects in many conventional unit processes of wastewater treatment, from headworks to disinfection and everything in between, including biological nutrient removal and tertiary filtration. Pumping system and hydraulics design are also areas of emphasis.
In this role you will supervise the work of others and provide technical support in specialized areas. Our ideal candidate will be a project manager and technical leader, managing client relationships in the Portland area and surrounding region, assisting in development of the local team, and participating in business development activities. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Serve as a subject matter practitioner on wastewater process and facility design from pursuit through planning and implementation.
- Provide technical guidance to municipalities on wastewater planning and design and provide oversight to engineers and technical staff based on project requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers, client service managers, and other project personnel from other disciplines.
- Lead engineering planning, studies, and design efforts in these focus areas.
- Prepare and make presentations to municipalities and for professional meetings.
- Assist with and lead business development pursuits.
- Assist with client service management and connecting BC solutions to clients in Oregon and Southwest Washington.
- Assist with career development of team members and identify high potential performers to create a healthy career progression and sustainable/long standing project support structure for our clients.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- BS Degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, or related Engineering field) required.
- Minimum of 10 years of professional work experience with municipal wastewater project management or design management.
- Desire and drive to inspire a team of professionals through engaged leadership.
- Effective and focused facilitation of team coordination meetings, both internally and with clients.
- High degree of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-control, social awareness, and relationship management.
- Mentorship and teaching. Ability to effectively guide others in learning both technical and non-technical aspects of project delivery to achieve high quality outcomes and deliverables.
- Demonstration of highly functional and effective oral and written communications.
- Municipal project experience is preferred, but other multi-discipline project experience such as industrial water/wastewater would also be considered.
- Possess a positive, can-do attitude, be flexible and self-motivated, and have an attention to detail.
- Professional Engineer (PE) in Oregon and Washington, or ability to obtain registration within 6 months of hire.
- Candidate must have excellent verbal/written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work well both independently and in team environment.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Location A: $141,000 -- $193,000
