Position Summary: The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a full-time Adult Reconstruction Surgeon. The division of Adult Reconstructive Surgery provides surgical and nonsurgical management of a wide range of hip and knee pathology. Successful applicants must have successfully completed an orthopaedic surgery residency and fellowship training in adult reconstruction, and should have an interest in both primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty procedures. This academic appointment is in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation. The position will be based at UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC) and the University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH). Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position provides a unique opportunity for rapid clinical practice growth, collaborative multidisciplinary clinical and translational research, and an active role in the orthopaedic residency training program. Applicants should possess excellent interpersonal, clinical, and teaching skills, and should be board certified or eligible for certification and eligible for licensure in the state of New Mexico. The University of New Mexico Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is in the midst of a growth-oriented transformation, with construction of the UNM Center of Excellence for Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation at the UNM SRMC campus. This 50,000 ft² facility will be home to state-of-the-art clinical, rehabilitation, research, and academic spaces. Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Must hold an M.D., Board Certified or Board Eligible with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Completed residency in orthopaedic surgery, Completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction surgery (total joints), Hold or be eligible for medical license in the state of New Mexico.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in teaching, Experience in clinical care with both primary and revision total joint reconstruction, Proven scholarly achievement, Experience working with diverse populations. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
