About the Role
Boston University Admissions seeks a Senior Assistant Director of International Admissions. The Senior Assistant Director International Admissions is required to represent the University at programs both on and off campus while managing an international recruitment territory. In addition, the person in this position is required to holistically review and evaluate applications for admission with a focus on applications from outside the United States. They will also lead the admissions committee process and identify potential scholarship candidates. This individual will share in the leadership of our Board of International Student Ambassadors (BISA) with the BISA Liaison. BISA has a role in recruitment initiatives such as college nights, panels, and tours for special groups. The person in this position is expected to participate in the efforts of our office to build a strong and diverse applicant pool and commit to principles of antiracism, diversity, equity and inclusion in the college search and application process. The Office of Admissions receives a high volume of first year and transfer applications each year. In order to meet deadlines, some evenings and weekend work may be required at certain points of the year, namely December through mid-March. Extensive travel overseas is also required, resulting in a significant number of days away from the office.
The Senior Assistant Director of International Admissions builds and maintains relationships with school personnel as well as with prospective students, their families, and Boston University alumni. In addition, this role serves as a primary contact to Boston University offices which serve our international students, such as the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) and the Center for English and Orientation Programs (CELOP). This role reports to the Associate Director of International Admissions.

About the Candidate
A Bachelor’s degree is required for this position. A valid driver’s license and passport are also required to fulfill this role’s responsibilities. We are seeking a candidate who:
- Has 5-8 years of directly-related experience;
- Demonstrates the ability to supervise and mentor students;
- Possesses strong public speaking skills;
- Can establish strong relationships with others;
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills;
- Is a strong written and oral communicator.
Candidates should expect to complete a CORI/SORI background check at the point of hire. This position requires a valid passport and travel to countries where we monitor health and safety standards. Pre-departure medical consultations and immunizations/vaccines may be required for travel to some destinations.
