UI Hospitals & Clinics is an 811-bed tertiary and quaternary care facility, as well as a Level 1 trauma center. Stead Family Children's Hospital is a 183-bed state-of-the-art pediatric facility. The Carver College of Medicine's thriving research enterprise has received $2 billion in NIH funding over the last decade.
Responsibilities Include:
- Participating in team-based anesthesia care and personally providing anesthesia care.
- Serving as a member of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating for effective patient outcomes.
- Active participation in the academic activities of the department and The Carver College of Medicine.
- Supervising students, residents, fellows, SRNA’s and non-anesthesia rotators.
- Providing developmental feedback to those under supervision, verbally and in writing.
- Preparing educational materials, leading and/or attending academic lectures and professional development events.
- Demonstrated experience in promoting an inclusive team-based work environment.
- Research activities are encouraged, though participation is not required for continued employment or promotion.
Requirements:
- Candidates of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.
- Applicants must have a medical school degree (or equivalent degree), show successful completion of an approved residency program in anesthesiology & obstetric anesthesiology fellowship.
- The selected candidate for the position must be eligible to obtain or already hold an active Iowa medical license.
- Candidates must be board-certified in Anesthesiology (or non-US Board equivalent) or be in the certification process (pending completion of residency or fellowship). On occasion, individuals trained outside of the United States who are certified by an equivalent national certification body may be considered.
- The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience working effectively in an inclusive environment and be comfortable with team-based anesthesia care. Interest in teaching and/or basic or clinical research.
Desired Qualifications:
- Fellowship training or equivalent clinical experience in obstetric anesthesiology.
