Physician - Infectious Disease (Part-Time)

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Adult Infectious Disease physician provides clinical care to adults, with a focus on infectious diseases. Primary clinical responsibilities will include the evaluation, treatment, and management of patients, including screening for chronic diseases. The physician will also supervise mid-level providers (Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants) involved in the care of adult patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides patients with infectious disease specialty care services in addition to general primary care for HIV patients and others when required.
- Develops and updates clinical guidelines for HIV, Hepatitis C, Tuberculosis, PrEP, non-occupational PEP, and occupational PEP and other infectious diseases.
- Manages and treats common health problems, including infections, as well as serious, chronic, and complex illnesses and disorders, with a focus on infectious diseases.
- Prescribes or administers medication, therapy, vaccines, etc., to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
- Collects, records, analyzes, and maintains patient information, including medical histories, reports, and examination results.
- Explains procedures and discusses test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
- Monitors patients’ conditions and progress and reevaluates treatments as necessary.
- Provides expert consult and assistance to providers across other service lines when needed.
- Offers expertise and support during infectious disease outbreaks.
- Reports certain diseases and collaborates with other public health organizations.
- Supervises mid-level providers and mentors students.
- Provides knowledge, basic techniques, and patient recruitment for research projects if available.
- Assists in performing data analyses, interpretation, and publishing of any research projects.
- Interviews and advises patients regarding health and illness prevention, including FQHC-required voluntary family planning services and related preventative health services in compliance with funding requirements and state and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Training Requirements
- MD, DO with completion of Infectious Disease Fellowship.
- Medical Doctor with current licensure.
- Provider shall obtain, maintain, and participate in Medicare and Medicaid Programs, workers’ compensation, and other federal and state reimbursement programs, as well as any commercial insurer, health maintenance organization, preferred provider organization, accountable health plan, and other health benefit programs requested by Legacy.
- BLS (CPR & AED) Certified.
- Ability to meet Legacy Community Health’s EPIC proficiency requirements.
Work Experience Requirement
- Previous experience in a community healthcare setting.
- Must be able to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize.
- At least 2 years of experience working in Infectious Disease, preferred.
