QualificationsPosition Summary
Provides Addiction Medicine expertise and oversight to patients, the Medical Department and Skywood Treatment Team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs routine and emergent comprehensive clinical/psychiatric evaluations and psychopharmacologic treatment of patients at admission and ongoing, completing documentation of all evaluations and treatment visits on the day of the session and according to FRN documentation requirements.
- Participates in treatment planning team meetings and after-care planning.
- Ensures timely meetings with clients and attendant timely documentation of related notes.
- Ensures delivery of emergency medical care when the patient’s attending practitioner is unavailable.
- Monitors lab levels and specialty tests.
- Supervises medication monitoring practices.
- Supervises medicated withdrawal procedures, as appropriate, for patient population.
- Practices according to industry standards for psychopharmacologic treatment.
- Communicates with other facility providers regarding status and treatment of patients.
- Reviews reports of accidents or unusual incidents and makes recommendations for program modifications.
- Provides consultation on matters regarding medical care, standards of care, surveillance, and infection control.
- Supervises medical treatment planning processes for patients.
- Provides input into nursing staffing.
- Provides ongoing training for medical and other staff.
- Performs all other duties as required or assigned.

- Ability to inspire client confidence in the FRN Staff and the FRN Model of Treatment.
- Ability to consistently demonstrate through conduct and communications the stability required to effectively assist patients and their family members through the FRN Model of Treatment.

- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of philosophies, practices, policies and outcomes of models of treatment, recovery, relapse prevention, and continuing care for dually diagnosed populations.
- Understanding of diagnostic criteria for dual disorders and ability to conceptualize modalities and placement criteria within the continuum of care.
- Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Demonstrates ability to manage people which includes planning, decision making and facilitating process improvements; takes responsibility for subordinates’ activities; makes self available to staff and provides regular performance feedback.
- Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.
- Exhibits excellent customer relation skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, residents, visitors, families and referral sources.
Education and Experience
- Medical degree and license to practice in state of Michigan required.
- Must be board-certified.
- Must have certificate in addiction from the American Society of Addiction Medicine.
- Must have expertise and experience treating patients with mental illness and addictive disorders.
- Supervisory and training experience a plus.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during work hours.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to be physically mobile, climb stairs, traverse the campus on uneven, hilly terrain.
- Position requires work on the computer requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
- A current, valid driver’s license and a clean driving record is required for use of company vehicles and possible business travel between locations.
- Due to the 24/7 operational demands, must be available after normal working hours and on holidays to manage emergencies that may arise.
